Giants to work out CFL QB

Colin@gbn : 12/14/2017 7:34 pm
Don't see this being reported elsewhere, but the Giants will work out Saskatchewan QB Brandon Bridge. If they like what they see they could bring him to camp under the special arrangement between the two leagues. Bridge was undrafted out of South Alabama in 2015 and spent the past three years in the CFL after being cut as an undrafted free agent by Dallas. Bridge also hasn't played much in the CFL until this year when he replaced injured incumbent Sask starter Kevin Glenn. In fact, he played very well and figures to be Sask's QB of the future if and when he returns to the CFL. This year, Bridge completed 67% of his pass atempts for 10 TDs versus 4 picks in the relatively pass-happy CFL. He's a tall kid with a strong arm although he does have a bit of a hitch in his delivery. He is also a really good athlete who can make plays with his legs. Probably would have been better if he'd gotten more PT up here, but he's an interesting kid with some tools and upside.
Honestly, what kind of upside is there really

if a QB is a few years removed from college and has barely played in the CFL to this point.
He only broke

CFL is a step up
CFL QBs

Let's be honest here; Bridge is still a longshot to even just make it to camp. But a couple of factors here; he didn't play much because he was playing behind long-time established veterans. And when he did play he played really well finishing with the second highest QB rating in the league. Remember too that Warren Moon played up here for 6 years and was never the nominal starter.
tough crowd to please

interesting.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained for either side.

Remember, Joe Theisman, Doug Flute, and this old time GIANTS HB/FB named Alex Webster all played in the CFL before the NFL, too.
I guess

Davis Webb sucks
What do they have to lose?

I wonder how some of you muster the optimism to get out of fucking bed in the morning.
Is anybody really complaining about a workout?
Jay on the Island : 12/14/2017 9:30 pm : link
Good teams search everywhere for talent. Chances are that this kid won't even be signed after the workout but there is no harm in checking him out. The Giants found a serviceable backup in Brett Jones from the CFL why not take a look at a QB.

were ready to put his number up next to LT. It never hurts to look.
Not really
BlueManCrew : 12/15/2017 11:17 am : link
big news. The Giants work out players all the time some of them aren't even reported. They may have seen something they liked in his game. Why not give him a shot??
I remember when Jones

He’s only allowed 7 pressures since taking over the starting job, second best in the league in that span

He threw like 138 passes and 4 picks in a 138 attempts is an average ratio up there. If they were serious about a qb from the CFL, they'd be looking at a Matt Nichols.

They may be doing someone a courtesy in working the Bridges out.
