what are their interests/hobbies? Always something on the smaller side that can go into a stocking. Then add on hygiene/cosmetic items and snacks.

that the areas near the check out lines (the impulse item stuff) at Home Depot and Bed, Bath and Beyond have some great, useful and not-too-expensive items for my husband's stocking as well as things I'd love to find in mine, too.
