What "house cleaning" has worked?

chopperhatch : 12/15/2017 1:00 am
I ask for all of you demanding that a franchise which has had several championship periods, completely gut their system and replace it with a brand new entity.

The NY Giants are a staple franchise. A franchise that gets attention from all the hot football minds that are avaialable....and even some that arent. After the dark ages of the 70s, there was a forced clean house....and it lead to a dominant Giants era and team. Then webscuffled along...making the playoffs and losing a super bowl before we hired Coughlin as coach. Then we won two more big guys....fell on hard times again and now some of you demand we rip everything out, put in Boo boo the fool as gm from so and so hecause 15 years ago they worked under Belichick? That sounds dumber to me than giving guys the nod who they trust and feel will do them right come draft time.

Patiemce folks. Gettleman has a fine track record. He could serve as a bridge btwn Reese and the GM of the future. But talking about our team like theyre the bungles is just fucking stupid.
Forgot to re-ask,

What team has benefitted greatly from a "house cleaning"? Dont say the pats because that involved a change in ownership

Did it? Robert Kraft bought the team in 1994. Before Belichick was Peter Carroll, and before Carroll was some other Bill.

Some might recall that I suggested quite a while ago that Mara and Tisch do just that: sell the team and let someone who knows something about football run it.
If the Giants are a staple franchise, can I buy a laptop there?

.
Sorry Percy but you aren’t going to find anyone who knows more
Ivan15 : 12/15/2017 8:20 am : link
about the business of pro football than the Mara clan. And if you want to add media and entertainment, there is no one better than Tisch.

Now if you want to find owners who know a lot less but don’t meddle in running a team, you can find those people. There with the teams who haven’t been to the Super Bowl in this century.
Rams

Fisher was terrible bottom 5 team offense. Used Gurley like a blocking fullback. In comes McVay and top 5 offense in less than a year. Gurley mvp candidate (long shot) but in the convo.
Not sure what your point is

are you saying replacing a GM whose recent failures have led to on-field poor results and potential cap issues and a HC who was unfit for the job has never worked before?

Where else would Tisch make out with a girl half his age on national television?

How about the Seahawks. When Pistol Pete took over, he completely changed the way that organization was run from top to bottom. They went from a West Coast Offense to a more ground and pound, and completely redid their front office.
1992 Packers fired Tom Braatz and Lindy Infante
Greg from LI : 12/15/2017 9:00 am : link
They brought in Ron Wolf as GM, who in turn hired Mike Holmgren as HC. Went 75-37 in Holmgren's seven seasons, winning one title in two Super Bowl appearances and scoring playoff victories in five consecutive seasons.

The Eagles have turned things around very quickly after dumping Chip Kelly.
I d be for me with Gettleman

And I agree Giants with Mara s have been highly successful

Maybe 1997 Jets, when Bill was hired? They turned things around from the 3-13, 1-15 Richie Kotite years.

Let's add in the team Parcells coached before the Jets, the Patriots.

Before he took over New England in 1993. In the 3 years before that, they were 9-39 where in two of the seasons they combined to win a total of 3 games.

He comes in there, and by year 2 they made the made playoffs. In the 4th year, they made the Super Bowl before leaving for the Jets. He left behind a number of players who would be cornerstone of future Patriots championship teams.

So what exactly is the point of the question the poster is asking? Was any research done before asking this?

The Mara Clan? Wellington passed away. John and Chris are not exactly lighting the world on fire. So i'd say plenty are better then the current Mara Clan. As far as media and entertainment, why are the Giants not the most popular franchie in sports if thats true? In the NFL they definitely below Shitsburgh, New England and Dallas to name a few.

Sorry for just getting back to this question. Yes I probably should have prefaced "going completely outside the org and ripping everything currently out." Mostly the post was to combat posters who are wanting to go completely outside of the org. Yes, it worked with the Pats. Im not sure Ron Wolf's relationship with the Packers prior to him getting involved and installing Holmgren. The Carroll thing is off because the coach who was hired was allowed a full culture change.

The example of Kelly with the Eagles is horrendous and actually further proves my point. Chiefs Im not sure applies either because they have been through what 4 GMs in 15 years?

My point is that the Giants have never really ripped things apart and started over and have won 4 super bowls during that time. I think if we have a guy like Gettleman who knows players when he sees them and a contract guy like Abrams, it doesnt sound as bad as some make it out to be.

Sorry for not following up on my post
