Sky Cam questions

joeinpa : 12/15/2017 8:23 am
I'm not a fan, cannot seem to get use to the angle, plus there is something about the motion that I don't like.

Unfortunately, I sense that there are quite a few that like it. My questions:

Would you like to see it replace the traditional camera angle?

and

Do you think it will?

Personally, I would be ok with the traditional angle and replays from the sky cam.

With today's technology maybe they'll find a way to give viewers their choice.
I personally don’t like it and just want the traditional angle

But it isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. This is for the Madden (gamer) fans.

that's obvious when you listen to Collingsworth promote it.
I like it but, I

prefer a majority of the game from the traditional angles. It should definitely remain part of the broadcast.

BTW, I don't play video games, so no Madden here. I believe coaches film and All 22 use the endzone view similar to the skycam, don't they?

I like the skycam because you can see the holes develope and the blocking to create the holes easier. Also you can see the defensive reactions.
didn't watch the game

but looked up pics. Definitely prefer traditional sideline view for the live coverage of the play. If they have the time to squeeze in skycam while teams are getting lined up, might not be bad. Do think it's a great view after the live action to dissect what happened, what the QB saw, how a play was disrupted.

My thoughts exactly. Keep the traditional and show replays from the sky cam.

they will continue to incorporate it into the broadcast. But if they use it exclusively they will alienate as many as they please.

I watch almost any NFL game, but I didn't watch too much of either game where they featured the sky cam.

It wasn't a snit or anything like that, I just don't like the view.

Plus, I think with some people, at least I read this, there could be a motion sickness problem.

I know I'm simplifying it, but I feel like they took me off the 50 yard line, and put me in a low seat in the end zone.

A couple thoughts—

As someone who appreciates defense I hate that on traditional view that you can barely ever see a deep safety nor watch routes/ coverage develope so I absolutely love the sky cam view.

For context i’m 30 and have played games including madden as long as i can remember but i don’t think that has a bearing to my enjoyment of the camera one way or another.

Also, the technology for broadcasters to allow users to select their preferred camera angle is already in people’s homes. That would be the real home run to allow the fan to flip between views as they please.

(forget about it when VR sports starts getting adopted. that’ll be a whole different ballgame as well)

love it

because it shows what the quarterback is seeing, but i don't think it should or will replace the standard. I do think that the standard sideline version should be positioned farther back, however, so you can see more of the play
I like the view, but hate the motion.

I could sense a bit of motion sickness. But it could also have been from the uniforms. Color Rush should just die except for our uniforms (and the saints weren't bad).

I believe the future of NFL games with this new Verizon deal will eventually leading to fans being able to choose which angle they want to view the game.

CBS & NBC already does this with their online stream whenever they have the Superbowl. You can watch All-22, Sky Cam, Traditional, etc.
I love

the view. You can truly see how the play develops and what the quarterback is seeing. That being said, I wouldn't want it to replace the original view. Just a few plays here and there.
