With winter being here, this is usually the most time I try to tackle my backlog. Just finished Horizon Zero Dawn. Great, great game. Probably my game of the year.
Thinking about starting up Bioshock collection next. Anyone play that?
it was a great game. Combat was really tight, landscapes were beautiful
and the main story was interesting.
I’m playing South Park the Fractured but Whole. Lots of fun. If you like the show pick it up. It’s like an interactive 25 hour South Park episode. Often laugh out loud funny. Combat reminds me of the old Lunar games.
After South Park onto Mario Oddyssey and Xenoblade 2.
Bioshock 1 is good. Goes off the rails and jumps the shark Â
I wasn't a huge fan of 2, but 1 is in my top 5 games of all time, and I thought Infinite stood as a pretty damn good game.
I just got my own PS4 (stopped using my roommates) and have the following games:
Destiny
Destiny 2
Titanfall 2
The Last of Us
Uncharted 4
NHL 17
Madden 18
Deus Ex
Mortal Kombat X
Doom
I've already played some of these games (TLOU is my fav game ever, but I needed my own copy), but the ones I've been playing recently for the first time ever are Doom, Destiny 2, and Titnafall 2
Titanfall 2's multiplayer is awesome, and has been the thing that has risen to the top to get me hooked. Destiny 2 is a lot of fun with friends, but holy shit that game can get repetitive. Doom is a lot of fun as well - it's very old school and I love seeing the brutal kills.
Thinking about getting GTAV or Watchdogs 2 next. Might play Uncharted 4 for the first time all the way through first though.
I've stopped playing. I played it for about a month, so much has changed from Destiny 1. I don't agree with the microtransactions (tess eververse). There's really no incentive to keep playing that game. Disappointment, IMO.
I just started Wolfenstein The New Colassus last night. Â
Didnt get very far but it seems like it will be pretty fun. After that I’m gonna give the new Assassins Creed a try.
I have Nier:Automata a try and it was fun for a bit but I got tired of the bland environment and the typical cheesy voice acting that you always have in eastern games.
The games I’m really excited about - Red Dead Redemption, God of War, Far Cry 5 - are still so far off that I dont really have anything I’m looking forward to in the near future.
I was actually going to start a thread about the new Monster Hunter World thats coming out next year. The beta has gotten great reviews and it looks cool but I’ve never played a Monster Hunter game. Is there an actual story involved or is it just killing monsters and collecting loot? I feel like I’d get bored going on all of these monster hunts with no real purpose.
absolutely great game if you enjoy the show, just wish it was longer. I wish Destiny 2 would have held my interest longer but they totally botched that game and the community is in uproar...may go back to the Division. Gotta say Ubi’s post launch support for their games has been impressive..Ea should take notes.
Anything put out by Naughty Dog is going to be a classic game. Agreed about TLOU. I'd definitely play through the Uncharted Series if I were you.
Do you think I should play 1-3 first or just jump into 4?
I started 4 but got frustrated on an easy puzzle I just wasn't getting and stopped playing (only like an hour in). At this time I didn't own my own PS4 (though I bought the game to play on my roommates), and now that I have my own I'm thinking about giving it another go, especially considering how much I love TLOU

I'd say play the first 3 beforehand. Really tells the story of Drake and sets the tone for the 4th game. The puzzles can be quite tricky, but they get easier as they are a bit repetitive throughout the series. Great series. You won't be disappointed.

Forgot to say, I own the Division but never really got into it. Is the game dead online? Is it too late to give it a shot?
It's a bummer cause I never really ever gave it a fair shake

Theres still a pretty good player base on PC, not sure about any of the consoles. I also have a cpl buddies that play so that makes it pretty fun to run through the PVP areas and do the new mini raids. My biggest gripe was that the game didn't scale your party very well if someone was underpowered, so youd have to spend time grinding that person in order to play with them...but I believe they fixed it in the latest content update.

The Division is back and just got a new huge new update. A ton of fun to play, especially if you run with a team. Still a lot of people playing, hop back in
for about a few weeks. After leveling up so much I didn't see the reason to keep playing. The fact that the game came out coming up on 2 years ago and they are still giving it updates means that there is enough people playing still.
Titanfall 2's campaign is EXCEPTIONAL. Well worth playing.
I'm back to For Honor after I abandoned for 6 months or so due to the terrible matchmaking issues. They've fixed much of it. It's a really fun melee-style "shooter" game.
I loved the whole idea of the dead zone in the middle of the city that was a lawless area. But two things make it stop being fun.
1. A lack of genuine pvp.
2. The completely tired and cheap "bullet sponge" way they made enemies tougher. It's supposed to be a realistic style Tom Clancy game, and you have to shoot a bad guy 10 times in the face with a shotgun to bring him down? Dumb.
Moondwg on my back in Overwatch, I haven't had much time to play anything else.
I did just order a few games on sale from Amazon as I'll be off all of next week. Just picked up Horizons Dawn, Mass Effect: Andromeda, God of War III: Remastered (for my GF) and Middle Earth: Shadows of More of Mordor.
Excited to finally sit down get some gaming in.
Lol yeah a lot of Overwatch too, some great moments with MO Â
but I never played it. How steep is the learning curve?
Depends on your style of game. What makes the game so fun and simultaneously so frustrating (as Moon alluded to), is that it's moreso a game of player combinations, team synergy and countering than outright skill.
For instance, you may be a wonderful Winemaker (sniper character), but that may not be what the team or situation calls for. Too often, the other players on the team simply don't understand this and you and up wasting your time getting hammered.
If you have it for PS4, let me and Moondwg know and we will group of together and show you the ropes.
Madden, NHL, and FIFA from a couple of years ago. I would like to pick up Call of Duty WWII and I'm anxiously awaiting Red Dead Redemption 2. My kids want Battlefront 2 and I guess I do also, so that will be coming soon.
I have an Xbox One and go months without even turning it on - just don't have the time.
I've been itching to play older Madden versions though... like 2007/8 for regular Xbox. Is there a way to do that on the Xbox One yet?
I thought I read that they were working on making the OG Xbox games backwards compatible but only some and not others.
I can't get into these newer versions of Madden. It takes like 50 hours just to play a fucking game if you want to start a season. All the front office shit. game plan training, management, etc... I get that they're trying to create a super-immersive experience, I just don't have time for it.
I miss the arcadey, simpler versions of the past.
I have been playing Super Mario Odyssey, which is tremendous. But Â
Getting back into Ultimate Team has been tough after a few years of playing career mode, but I've finally got my team and tactics down. Counterattacking 5-3-2.
stalking? hardly..i read this board because i am a giants fan, i merely said i dont play video games, because i am not a kid, i have kids, and prefer they dont either. i prefer less laziness and mountain dew, and more climbing trees and playing sports.
I'm telling you, Ultimate Team seems completely refreshed this year with the daily objectives and squad battles.
I packed Griezmann early on and then Gamiero and Jordi Alba in the same pack, so I'm playing with La Liga and doing pretty well.
I like the fact I can get coins on squad battles if I know I'm not going to have time on the weekend to try and qualify for the weekend tourney.
Yeah I like FUT better than I remember in the past. The gameplay is smoother and closer to the regular offline gameplay.
Wow Griezmann is a hell of a find. That's someone to build around and then some.
I've built up Deportivo as my squad. They were cheap to start, and I figure I'll use them to build up something bigger. I want to construct a team based on a 5 man back line and a strong strike partnership...I've tried 4 man back lines and I'm finding the through balls are too effective against them.
Being incredibly anal about this stuff I've used all my club deletions, so I've got to make this one work and accept the fact that every detail is not going to be perfect from the outset.
Its not trolling when you are on a message board for the new york football giants, and some boners like video games...i am allowed to make fun of them. im sure there are boners for you to sit on too, enjoy.
and the main story was interesting.

Agreed. Bioshock 1 is a masterpiece but 2 was Meh and 3 was interesting but got stale pretty quick. I'd really only recommend the first one.

A really fun game that was overshadowed by Overwatch is Battleborn. It has splitscreen too, which is awesome.
Not very high. Just be sensitive to what the team needs (likely not another fucking sniper, but probably a healer or tank sometimes).

Go play some chess. You'll still be an asshole.
Yep I'm on PS4. If you can shoot me an add I'll play with ya whenever you guys get around to it. I'll try to hold my own. PSN is Suits2kill

Sometimes my kids use my account so send a message, and if I'm on I will respond. If not, don't take offense, it's them playing.
Yeah, they were great.

correct, 36...video games are for kids and those who cannot hit, kick, catch, or throw a ball. get off the couch.
Bioshock 1 is a masterpiece. Infinite is close to a masterpiece. Really liked Bioshock 2, but a small step down in story, but a step up in mechanics.

What do you call a 36 year old who hates video games stalking a video game thread and bitching about it to people they’ve never met?
