yesterday's show from the long lineup of MLB, NHL, NBA, NFL and NCAA head coaches, former players and celebrities was LT. It was vintage LT ...asking if anyone had change for $100 in singles for the strip joint.
The Sunday football show was the best. Would have liked to hear him with Mara at the end of the season, his thoughts about the GM/HC search, and interviews with them after hire. His rant after the Eli benching was legendary. About McAdoo: You cant get dis clown outta here fast anuff!

Mara was going to keep McAdoo to the end of the season until he heard that rant. True story!
is that he's an entity unto himself and because he has been so big for so long, and has done so before ESPN radio, that he can talk about anythign he wants and spend any amount of time that he wants.
All of the other sports talk radio platforms seem to have centralized agendas from corporate and from the national brand and the cycle through the same guests all the time.
I think Mike is a frustrating blowhard and can be arrogant and stubborn, but he had authoritative knowledge and memory of historical sports events, and his rants could be entertaining at times.
Every once in a while, when big news breaks or happens, I'll still tune in briefly to hear his take.
But the best sports listening experiences now are podcasts. With Mike leaving terrestrial radio, Michael Kay may finally be #1 in the market, but it will be a complete waste of anyone's time to listen.
In the Eli rant was something to the effect of mcadoo can look at Eli's 2 superbowl rings on his way out the door, because that will be the closest he will ever come to seeing one.
I was driving down the highway when I heard that and nearly caused an accident because I was laughing so hard.
Mikes rants were some of the best and some of his lines were just pure gold.
Love him or hate him, but he will be missed.
It'd be hilarious if a Machado trade or something broke
Ill give Mike Francesa this: In my 44 years in this business, I have never dealt with, known or covered a more inexorably conceited, condescending, factually wrong, name-dropping, dissent-intolerant, megalomaniacal, pompous, boastful, hypocritical, self-entitled, self-anointed, self-delusional, unilaterally rude, humorless, imperious and dishonest person in the media. Other than that

Fuck him. Mushnick is a whiny old dooshbag repaeating the same old shit every week. The next original though he has will be the first since about 1980
I love the Sports Pope as much as the next guy but enough with all the thank youze. This guy got paid millions of dollars to sit on his ass and pontificate about sports. He didnt cure cancer or land a plane full of babies on the Hudson River. Hes shown up, usually without any obvious preparation, to what has to be one of the top ten best jobs in the world and were thanking him? Hes a fucking sports talk radio host whos probably going to pop up on some other media channel after da holidays. If there were any justice in the world (and there clearly is not) then Francessor would be thanking all of us with free tickets to our choice of NY sports events. Or even a free Diet Coke.
I've been listening to this guy on the way home from work for 15 + years. He's the best there has ever been. Hope he ends up at Sirius because while I somewhat enjoy the Michael Kay show, it will really really suck to have that as my only option (the replacements for Mike aren't an option at all).
Mike Franceser
@MikeFrancesaNY
I remember dat! Dat guy was tryin to tell me a Bay Brooth Jersey from da thirties was game wahn!!! How ah youah gonna do dat, cawl him up???? Dats da problem with dat industry!!
say what u want about him..like him or hate him...he was good listen most of the times...sunday show was the best...what ever mike liked...went the opposite...mike could not pick his nose...
I can't see him leaving the FAN to do another radio talk show at a different company. I'm wondering if he does something at The Ringer with Bill Simmons. Like a weekly podcast or something. But we'll see...
I live in Charleston SC these days... But I've been with Mike the whole way... This day has been coming and I wouldn't miss it. I listen on the internet for years...He will be sorely missed. Bye Mike.
But Phil Mushnick calling anyone else humorless? That's hilarious.
Francesas deserved a lot of the shit Mushnicks given him over the years, but that doesnt make Mushnick any less of a douche.
The funny part is Mushnick becomes a lot less relevant now - reading his shots at Mike were about the only reason to read him
Mushnick really is the cranky old man of sports. He may as well start every article with "Why, back in my day..." and throw in a "get off my lawn you damn kids with that crazy "rock and roll" music!"
RE: I am going to miss the Super Bowl trivia contest
That was SO tedious to listen to, one caller after the other hemming and hawing and dead air and "ummmmmmm......" "uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh........" trying to think of the answers. Painful even

Loved Mike and the Mad Dog, and still listened to Mike. Wasn't always great, but many times it was.(like the classic Eli rant from a few weeks ago) To think that time-spot on afternoon drive time was #1 for 30 years is quite remarkable. People did listen. Love him, or hate him. Good Luck Mike.
Out of many, Mikes marathon rant after Sandy may have been his best
when they first came on or a year or so after during the 89'-90' football seasons a couple of years before I got my driver's license.... Stayed with them and then Mike right until yesterday... Since 2013 I've had a 75 mile commute to work both ways, and did that commute somewhat regularly since 1999 and every afternoon, especially during football season, I listed to Mike & Chris or Mike. It was always a good listen and was very entertaining - and always made my long ride seem to go quicker.
It's funny. Yesterday, with the snow, it took me 3.5 hours to get home, and I had Mike on most of the time, just listening to callers, and again the drive flew by despite a purely hellish commute down the turnpike and parkway.
I will go wherever he goes also!
His popularity has exploded the past several years
Thanks to the fake Francesa and Funhouse. I'm surprised Intercom didn't offer him a blank check to stay on. It feels like the new trio is doomed before they start.
The way he talked about sports...it's as if he was your friend
I freaking hated listening to that guy, I was just tuning in to hear Francesa.
Totally agree. Dog's screeching was unbearable. And his monopoly of the mic denied us the chance to hear Francesa's analysis, which was often astute. I rarely listened to the pair of them. Once Dog was gone, I tuned in and what I liked most about the pope was that he took phone calls and let the listeners drive the topic.
Even when I started winding down how many games I went to, it was still must-listen radio.
Also his war with the Rex Ryan Jets is some of the best radio in recent memory.

Oops. Sorry bout that.

I like dog but I couldn't agree more
Love big mike solo
I thought he got better over the years. Liked the combo their last couple of years.

He's a big loss. WFAN may as well have gone off the air as far as I'm concerned.

Was it me or did somebody actually call and mention Jason Giambi?
