San Fran is still in the mix with 3 wins, but looking much stronger. But with Osweiler coming off the bench and getting the win last night, he may have ruined the Colts best chance at a 4th 'W'.
I realize there are several QBs see as legit 1st rounder's, but the consensus seems to be that Rosen and Darnold are the strongest prospects, assuming both come out. And if, for whatever reason, the Giants preferred one of the other guys, #2 will undoubtedly be a highly coveted spot for possible deal down, get extra picks and still get your guy kind of situation.
Obviously sitting at 2 wins, NYG is well positioned draft-wise now, but a win over Arizona or Washington and the Giants are likely to find themselves on the outside looking in on the top QB prospects.
This is not the time for heroics. Ugly win over bad team isn't going to erase the stink of 2017, or build any encouragement. I almost never root for losses, but when you are talking about your franchise QB, a guy you hope to be the face of the franchise for next 10+ years, this is not the time for moral victories on Sundays.
I realize all of this is pretty obvious. But we should be rooting like hell for them to lose out. The team has far too much at stake in securing the next generation in this draft.
I sure as hell hope ownership is planning turning their back on 2017 after Philly game. I don't mean tank it overtly, but at least call of the war cries for meaningless moral 'W's and shift focus on future and evaluating young guys. As ugly as this year has been, the right guy on draft day can be franchise altering. I realize I'm being completely selfish here with recent SB wins, but with the string of poor seasons since 2011 and the horror show we've been through this year, it feels a bit like we deserve this one.
Get your head out of your ass on this one Mara and do the right thing for a change.
Swing game is in Arizona on Xmas Eve. That could the difference between picking 3rd or picking around 6th (maybe 7th).
My guess is that the Giants end up with either 3 or 4 wins...
The thing that seems to get lost. A top 2 pick -or any pick- spent on a QB- does NOT automatically equate to a franchise QB for the next 10+ years. It reads as a given here that these guys will be good.
That is not nec. the case.
Missing the pick on a top 5 pick spent on a QB is THE MOST detrimental thing that can happen to a franchise. You are crippled for 4 years minimum.
People may not remember but when Simms was ushered out the door (FOr dave brown / kent Grahm) The giants were in the wilderness for a decade.
Top 2 QBs stand out as prospects. But even if you like one of the other QBs, the #2 spot is still MUCH more valuable. Having your pick of players, plus option to deal down for additional picks, which we could REALLY use, is far better situation.
The IND tiebreak will probably be a lost cause by week 17.
SF tiebreak will probably still be up for grabs on week 17. Maybe SF picks up a 4th win this weekend vs TEN.
We finish #2. Darnold stays in school. The Browns take Rosen. Then what?
Hard to lose to Washington? We can't score more than 10 points in a game if we are lucky, especially with players dropping out with any kind of injury. Same goes for our D. JPP will probably have 7 sacks against the skins just piss us all off!
Must root for a Indy..Chi...SF win.
Skins really are our only W worry...though it'd be nice to get a W on NYE in front of the home crowd.
Besides even if they finish in the top 5, they have a chance to get any quarterback they want if they are willing to pay the price to move up.
I've been rooting for losses since the SF loss. Every fan is different. But I remember how big an addition L.T. was and Eli.
Back then a few more wins to placating temporarily those who want the victory in the short term, would have seen those players in another uniform.
Why do people think this decimated team can beat anyone, especially Arizona on the road.
Saying he provides us the best to chance to win is like increasing that chance from 5% to 7%...
It really doesn't matter who plays QB. We have no chance against the Eagles and I don't have much concern about us winning either of the last two games.
Just stop with this crap already. If the Giants win a game fucking deal with it. I want them to finish with the second pick too. Don't care if they lose all three games, even to the divisional opponents, i only wanted to fuck up dallas and their playoff chances but I won't sit here on Monday and bash Mara and Eli and spags and everyone else associated with the team because they won. Stop with this nonsense.
Cmon.
Cmon.
Most of them are on IR or headed that way.
Cmon.

Eli could be great and we still won’t win

Didn't know you were on the team, funguy.

no he couldn't...
your point being... the chances are better picking 6th?
NikkiMac -- McKay was a funny guy. Toward the end of that winless season, McVay was asked what he thought of the execution of his offense. Deadpan, McKay said, "I'm in favor of it."
