NFT: Parking recommendations at Newark Airport, for 7 days...

CT Charlie : 12/15/2017 6:05 pm
I've never flown in or out of Newark. I'm leaving tomorrow (Saturday) and returning on Friday.

Any suggestions for week-long parking for convenience and/or economy? I'm on a teacher's budget.

Thanks.
The long term lots on the airport property

are about $24/day and very convenient, you just take the monorail to the terminal. I travel quite a bit for work so this is what I do but, I am able to expense it. There are plenty of off site parking lots for $12 or so a day but you have to take their shuttle bus to and from (and waiting for them after you get back, in the cold can suck) the terminal so you have to pad a few extra minutes onto your day.
you could take a jersey transit train to the airport and park
gtt350 : 12/15/2017 6:36 pm : link
elsewhere, Rahway for example or just have someone take you to the train. Ridiculously covenient
Depending on how far you are getting from EWR

You might consider uber or lyft. Parking is a rip off. And the off site lots can be a pain when you get back. A complete hassle. If you're not too far, it might be cheaper to pay for a ride. Or get someone to drop you off/pick you up and pay for a one way ride.

I'd try to avoid parking there.
I'm driving two hours from northern Connecticut

and picking up kids in Manhattan, so I think my options are limited. When we return next Friday on the red-eye we're heading straight back to CT together.
Check out park2go.com

They should have a special where you can park for 7 days for $70. They have a shuttle that runs every 10 minutes and operates 24/7. They also might have an indoor parking deal for like $15 a day if you need to park indoors.
Is it possible for

The kids to UBER or take the train to NJ? Pick
Them up at Penn Station? That's what I'd suggest. Also remote lot is the most economical if $$ if that's an issue. As suggested

I just would avoid the city traffic this time of year for your own sanity
they'll also

give your car an oil change and/or wash/detail it if you want. It's a pretty good service.

Plus you can make reservations and reserve everything ahead of time.
for more than 2 or 3 days.

I leave the car at park2go, just outside the airport. They drive you to/from airport. Pickup with a phone call, 24*7. Works well.

There is long term parking BUT

depending upon how close you live Uber may be cheaper than parking. If the "CT" in your ID means Connecticut then forget it

Yup $18 a day I believe is correct.

That's $126 for 7 days. Certainly affordable.
Long term lot's P1 and P3
kennyd : 12/15/2017 9:31 pm : link
are the closest ones to the terminals and are $27/day. I travel twice a month and was just there last week. It can get pricey and I get budget concerns but it is definitely the easiest. Obviously, you know what you can afford, just my two cents.

Newarkairportlongtermparking or some such name, good service.

It’s a shuttle but so is the on site parking. Just check he prices and see what you think. They often have a Groupon which makes things very reasonable. At regular prices I’m not sure what the savings would be, but you can check that. Give them advance notice and you won’t wait, they pick you up, you car is warmed up the trunk is open and you’re off without touching your bags. It’s pretty decent. Safe travels!!

The groupon idea is a good one. My sister has done that and gotten really good a really good deal

should be ignored immediately.

As someone who travels for a living I can tell you that if you're on a budget park2go is the best option.

When I have to go to NYC or Hoboken and fly out of ewr, I use Blacklane but that's like $200 each way.

I've used park2go earlier in my career and it was always reasonable and reliable.
Lot P6 $18/24h

Was always best option for me and convenient.
Would certainly check park2go if the price is right.
Not sure if you are still reading this

But do park2go. First you can park indoors for a couple bucks extra so you don’t have to worry about snow when you get back. Second its way cheaper. Third long term parking at Newark actually isn’t on monorail it’s a bus and it’s a pain. You can do daily parking but that’s 24 bucks a day compared to like 8 or something at park2go. The transport is relatively seamless as well. If I am traveling for a day or two I’ll bite the bullet and do short term but past that park2go has always worked well

The local hotels use to have a program where if you stayed the night prior to you leaving you could leave your car in there attended lots. They shuttle you over to the airport (a couple minute ride) and when you return all you do is pick up the courtesy phone in the airport and they send the shuttle out to pick you up. Takes only a few minutes for them to arrive and whisk you back to your car. I liked it too because of traveling to the airport where traffic could always cause delays was eliminated.
