NFT: NY Rangers at Boston Bruins - today 5p

B in ALB : 12/16/2017 1:39 pm
Look, yesterday means puto if we can't get a victory in Trashtown, Mass. I don't want to hear about the late flight, the Boston hookers who played with our ding dongs last night trying to get us off our game or Hank being tired. That's all bullshit. The only thing that matters on the ice is balls. Big, hairy, sweaty, nasty steam heat balls. And we don't break em for anyone now that I'm back in the lineup.

In the immortal words of Coach McGrath...WIN, YOU TURKEYS!!!

LGR.

for coach mcgrath.

rooting for the Rangers here, need to get the Habs past the B's.

I will say though watching Bergeron and Pastrnak play together is about as good as it gets as an NHL fan. I hope they both suffer short-term injuries.
and this guy
pjcas18 : 12/16/2017 4:29 pm : link
hopefully trips on his nose and knocks himself out.

Good OP .... per usual
MetsAreBack : 12/16/2017 4:36 pm : link

My expectations are low as I really don't understand this scheduling. 6th game in 9 days, road game less than 20 hour turnaround from last night ... Boston had yesterday off and in middle of a homestand. It's nonsense.

That's why last nights two points were huge. Going to have to pick our spots today and try to steal it.

By the way I was bored after shoveling my driveway for the 3 time in 6 fooking days this morning and rewatched a good portion of last nights game ... McDonough took some legit shots to his upper body and noggin. Need to keep him clean today.
And for that missed last nights telecast
MetsAreBack : 12/16/2017 4:42 pm : link
Zibanejad will practice in full with the team Monday so hopefully looking at a Tuesday or at least and more likely a Thursday return in a huge matchup with the Lady Wrenches.
I'd overturn that

I really don't understand why Lundqvist is in net

Pavelec was hot too. Makes zero sense.

for 5-10 minutes until they started to find their skating legs. After playing just 20 hours ago, I'll take goals anyway we can find them. That one by Grabner will work just fine

But asking for it here - stay out of the fucking box
Desharnais turned the game around for them
MetsAreBack : 12/16/2017 6:37 pm : link

I just don't like this guy
Nonstop parade to the box late in that period
MetsAreBack : 12/16/2017 6:48 pm : link
Completely swung momentum. We are probably gassed. Going to need a ton of discipline to get out of dodge.

Thank God we have B to provide the motivational speech. We need at least a point today but the way we unexpectedly had a 2-0 lead with a power play late in 2nd period it'd be a damn shame not to get two.

But I recognize 6 games in 9 days without your 1C and on less than 20 hours from a physical game with La is a tall task. Dig deep and let's bring our big boy pants out for the third.
OK. Enough penalties.
B in ALB : 12/16/2017 7:19 pm : link
Play 5v5 and win the game.

That is all.
Overtime
dpinzow : 12/16/2017 7:41 pm : link
so the Rangers get at least a point
Boston too many men on the ice penalty
dpinzow : 12/16/2017 7:44 pm : link
4 on 3 power play for the Rangers
An obvious
bigbluehoya : 12/16/2017 7:45 pm : link
Too many men to stop an odd man rush?

Rules need to penalize that more severely. Make them play 3 on 2.
Zuccarello wins it in Overtime!
dpinzow : 12/16/2017 7:47 pm : link
It's a power play goal!
Don’t matter

My son got 1st in a wrestling tournament today at 220. Pinned two kids inside the first round and threw another twice through the air and knocked him out. Complete obliteration. Murder.

Now my man Zucc does business.

Oh, wait. Almost forgot about my Cuse squad nut slapping those cunts from Georgetown. Have fun in the library tonight, dickbags.
💩

Sorry hoya.

My bad bud.

Still though. Great game.
Two pretty critical wins
Kyle in NY : 12/16/2017 11:45 pm : link
this weekend. Coming off two terrible losses, things could have started to unravel a bit but they showed some guts, especially tonight with this brutal scheduling. Hopefully Mika back on Tuesday.

Of course only one metro division team lost tonight. And it was against another division team. Just can't get any breathing room. Four points out of both first and last place.
Only get to see what NBCSports
section125 : 12/17/2017 8:46 am : link
shows or NHL network. But Kings game was on previous night. Big win in Boston after a physical game against LA the night before. At least they don't get out muscled by LA anymore.
Four points out of both first and last place.
Torrag : 12/17/2017 9:00 am : link
I've never seen such a tight cluster this deep into a season. Makes for exciting hockey though. The mantra every point counts is elevated right now because you can see day to day your team is in the playoff seed in the morning and go to bed on the outside looking in. Just keep winning, winning, winning...
Zib back tomorrow night
Kyle in NY : 12/18/2017 1:01 pm : link
Nice job surviving his absence. Just hope we can keep him healthy now.

Thanks, jerkoff.

Someone ban this guy again!

It was an entertaining game. Can’t believe G-town pissed it away.

I didn’t like the Ewing hire and I have no expectations for them this year, but I must say I’m pleased with Pat so far. Complete embarrassment of a schedule, but I don’t think the program is trying to pretend to be anything more than they are right now. The improvement in Govan’s game already has been tremendous.

Great news. I heard he was practicing with the team this morning and then they'd reassess.... did they already announce him good to go for tomorrow? I thought they might hold him to the division game on Thursday as a precaution.
Yeah the KZB line was back intact at practice
Kyle in NY : 12/18/2017 1:53 pm : link
Which would indicate he's back in. I suppose there could be a last second set back but it's looking good. Sounds like Nieves is out and DD stays in. Don't quite agree with that in a 4th line role but it's fine.
AV confirmed he's in
Kyle in NY : 12/18/2017 1:53 pm : link
There we go
I really like Nieves...
MetsAreBack : 12/18/2017 1:58 pm : link
and while I'm generally fine with giving kids games here and there from the press box because i dont think playing 82 games is feasible at that age (I argued the same for Vesey last year)....

we know, absent injury, that AV just favors the vets and that this could easily turn into a 10 game rest for Boo.

Vesey was 23 years old, like Nieves is this year, why didn't you want him playing 82 games? jump from NCAA to NHL?

not age though, right?

it's one of the downsides of NCAA vs juniors. juniors are used to a longer season.
Yeah last year
MetsAreBack : 12/18/2017 2:27 pm : link
they said (its been a while and i dont feel like researching) - but that before last year the most games Vesey had played in a season was like 32...

Yet AV had him play every night, even when we had WC1 locked up for months and we were healthy scratching... perhaps our 2017-2018 best offensive player every night.

This remains equal parts hilarious and demoralizing. He doesn't scratch him anymore but he still barely trusts him. I'm hoping this is just a case of being on a line with Deharnais but Buch and Kreider's 5v5 ice time has been down lately.

And we're still hemorrhaging shots lately. So the trusted "defensive minded" guys aren't exactly getting the job done. Excellent goal tending and some timely scoring has mostly carried us. I'm really hoping he gives that line more time with Zib back and just realizes that the best way to suppress shots is to trust your guys that are best at holding the puck in the offensive zone.

Not to provide the same response every time, but it's the way a particular style of coaches coach.

in Montreal, a team who struggles scoring, played OTT over the weekend, and 4th liner who should be an AHLer Byron Froese had more TOI than the teams leading scorer.

In fact, out of 12 forwards who saw ice time, only 1 had less time than the teams leading scorer.

no injury, no PIMS, no reason given, and the habs leading scorer (brendan gallagher) is not a youngster.

I have a feeling the Habs are about to unload.

I'd look for Pacioretty, Alzner, Plekanec, maybe more to all find new homes.

Where is B?
MetsAreBack : 12/19/2017 4:33 pm : link
Only interested in higher ratings weekend games?

And why is Toronto playing Carolina this afternoon? I like the result though.

I think it was some sort of commemorative 100th anniversary game - not sure why Carolina was involved, but the Leafs wiped the ice with them so I'm okay with that.
