The most damning argument against those calling Rosen soft or fragile is the fact that countless times Rosen stood in the face of pressure and delivered an absolute dime of a throw right before being crushed. You don’t pull yourself off the turf 15 or more times a game if you’re not tough and don’t love football. You don’t continue to play with blood running down your face if you’re not tough. You don’t survive three offensive coordinators, a very limited run game and a porous run defense to lead your team to a bowl game if you’re not tough. |
It's certainly possible the Giants may overall prefer Darnold, but they'd almost certainly take Rosen. The problem is that Cleveland will probably take him, and Darnold may stay in school. Not sure what happens in that situation. I'd probably try and trade down.
Watching the Rosen/Darnold matchup a month ago, I was sold on Rosen just based on one limiting factor. Rosen was under center. I find it ridiculous when players come out of college never taking a snap under center (*cough* Webb *cough*).
If Rosen is Eli Part II, sign me up.

I don’t think there would be a value for us in a trade down based on that scenario. Teams would have to want to move up. Unless somebody wants Barkley that bad there is no trade down deal to be made. Would be tough but interesting for us. Barkley, Allen, Chubb, Fitzpatrick, OL?
I think Darnold has a tough decision to make. If he comes out and we pick 2, we are in a winning position. Either him or Rosen will be the pick.
Josh Allen is the wildcard. Some scouts rave about him, others think he’s all over hype due to the physical tools and projection.
He may declare then pull back if early prelim talks have him where he doesnt want to be.
Picking Nelson (3rd over-all), Browns go for Rosen at the top ...

So much more than stats when comparing QB’s in college.
that's Eli??
Quote:
limited run game, peel yourself off the turf, blood streaming down face, stand in pocket delivering dimes before being crushed, 3 OC, etc.
that's Eli??
You are correct. He's had 4 OC (Hufnagel, Gilbride, McAdoo, Sullivan) . The rest most definitely applies over Eli's 14 year career.

Eli has been one of the least sacked and least hit QBs in the league throughout his career. I’m not saying he isn’t tough because he certainly is, but this narrative that he’s had to pick himself off the dirt some incredible amount of times simply isn’t true

Well, the quoted paragraph as it pertains to Rosen is over his college career where I was drawing the comparison that it sounded like a description for Eli. Certainly we are all smart enough to understand that Eli was pummeled for 14 years straight week in and week out. I also don't think it needs to be explained that Eli is bleeding every game for 14 years. I read the quoted paragraph when Milton posted, and as I read it, it seemed to me to describe Eli. I was wrong on the OC count as I really don't consider Sullivan an actual OC.
Other than that...
