Good article on Josh Rosen and use of anonymous sources...

The most damning argument against those calling Rosen soft or fragile is the fact that countless times Rosen stood in the face of pressure and delivered an absolute dime of a throw right before being crushed. You don’t pull yourself off the turf 15 or more times a game if you’re not tough and don’t love football. You don’t continue to play with blood running down your face if you’re not tough. You don’t survive three offensive coordinators, a very limited run game and a porous run defense to lead your team to a bowl game if you’re not tough.

a UCLA website. Not exactly objective, but then I never thought Rosen has said anything disqualifying. A slightly bigger problem are some of his "antics" and "hijinks," but even they seem overblown. Mayfield is the guy I think the Giants will skip because of his behavior. I'm not saying they should, only that I think they will, especially given his height.

It's certainly possible the Giants may overall prefer Darnold, but they'd almost certainly take Rosen. The problem is that Cleveland will probably take him, and Darnold may stay in school. Not sure what happens in that situation. I'd probably try and trade down.
Geez, that quoted paragraph, sounds just like Eli.

Watching the Rosen/Darnold matchup a month ago, I was sold on Rosen just based on one limiting factor. Rosen was under center. I find it ridiculous when players come out of college never taking a snap under center (*cough* Webb *cough*).

If Rosen is Eli Part II, sign me up.

To be as tough as Eli though. He’s also a much more talented thrower imo. He honestly reminds me of Brady.

He absolutely stands tall in the pocket and is willing to take a hit.

I don’t think there would be a value for us in a trade down based on that scenario. Teams would have to want to move up. Unless somebody wants Barkley that bad there is no trade down deal to be made. Would be tough but interesting for us. Barkley, Allen, Chubb, Fitzpatrick, OL?

I think Darnold has a tough decision to make. If he comes out and we pick 2, we are in a winning position. Either him or Rosen will be the pick.

Josh Allen is the wildcard. Some scouts rave about him, others think he’s all over hype due to the physical tools and projection.

So much more than stats when comparing QB’s in college.

You are correct. He's had 4 OC (Hufnagel, Gilbride, McAdoo, Sullivan) . The rest most definitely applies over Eli's 14 year career.

Eli has been one of the least sacked and least hit QBs in the league throughout his career. I’m not saying he isn’t tough because he certainly is, but this narrative that he’s had to pick himself off the dirt some incredible amount of times simply isn’t true

Well, the quoted paragraph as it pertains to Rosen is over his college career where I was drawing the comparison that it sounded like a description for Eli. Certainly we are all smart enough to understand that Eli was pummeled for 14 years straight week in and week out. I also don't think it needs to be explained that Eli is bleeding every game for 14 years. I read the quoted paragraph when Milton posted, and as I read it, it seemed to me to describe Eli. I was wrong on the OC count as I really don't consider Sullivan an actual OC.
I think your post fits the San Fran championship game about

If the Giants Pick Rosen
Alwaysblue22 : 12/17/2017 9:10 am : link
All of their renaming picks have to be OL or he will never see the field or survive . I like Mayfield because he can survive behind an OL that is not a fortress. What does his behavior have to do about winning? Unless that behavior is domestic violence or drug addiction pointing to him grabbing his crotch or giving the finger to the opposing team in the heat of battle, or running from police when he was younger does not make him a QB who cannot win. The ability to WIN under adversity is paramount. The NFL is about WINNING and not training guys for the priesthood. The type of behavior that is destructive to winning in the NFL is when players show that they do not want to play because of fear of injury or resistance to coaching.. that is destructive behavior ( see Eli Apple of Giants, and RB Royce Freeman of Oregon as examples) these are players you should avoid, or get rid of. Violations of the domestic abuse policy and drug addition will lead to suspensions so that behavior needs to be avoided. The type of behavior that Mayfield has been criticized for is correctable whereas people who are addicts or are inherently violent never really change and have to be constantly monitored.
