Lol. I hope they trade him for like a 4th round pick and cal it a day. He’s soft. He’s immature and doesn’t have what it takes to wear the giants jersey

things about Reese's drafting I won't miss:

*Everyone annually knowing who we would pick. (How did Ranaan know Flowers on April 1st? Floyd? Conklin?)

*His lack of movement (both up and down). He should've traded up for 1 of the latter 2 players, like the Bears & Titans did. Do what's necessary to get the guys you really want. Conversely, trade down - as much as I like Engram, he probably should've taken that trade down offer with the 49ers last year for example.

*His obsession with taking 20 year olds.

*His seemingly not vetting these guys good enough. Look at Apple's attitude. Look at David Wilson's neck injury, which he actually had in college.

*Obviously his lack of ability to draft a good Offensive Lineman, even in rounds 1 and 2.

*His incompetence in rounds 3-5.

*His obsession with 2nd round DTs.

---------

Glad it's over.

You can knock Reese for many things but his drafting of DT's in round 2 is not one of them. Sure Marvin Austin was a bust but Linval Joseph is one of the best DT's in the game. Hankins is a very good player and Tomlinson looks like an excellent pick also. His mistake was not re-signing Joseph and giving that money to players like Beason.

I will still never understand how we didn't re-sign Linval. Dude is a beast and was still an ascending player when we let him walk. Made absolutely no sense at the time and looks even worse now.
Jay, that's my point.
Powerclean765 : 12/17/2017 9:54 am : link
We had Linval. Just re-sign the guy - homegrown talent. Knows the Giants way. Part of a core the fans can invest in.

Re-sign Joseph and it saves the Hankins AND Tomlinson pick.

We'd have LinJo and Snacks up the middle PLUS 2 2nd round picks at other positions.
Other annoying JR trends...
Sarcastic Sam : 12/17/2017 10:02 am : link
Drafting first round picks starting with E in the first name...

Ereck Flowers. Eli Apple. Evan Engram.

His affinity for drafting receivers with the same first and last initial. Jernel Jernigan. Steve Smith. Reuben Randle. Mario Manningham. Evan Engram.

His decision not to draft NFL quality players in the third round.
That naming thing with the receivers is cute
Jimmy Googs : 12/17/2017 10:08 am : link
and you might be right that it was a key strategy because it sure as hell wasn't scouting...

I don’t think we get snacks if we keep Joseph. But I agree with the rest of your assessment.

Either way, he gave himself plenty of opportunities to re-draft positions because he refused to sign good players to market deals and they walked. How do you ever build a team if you are spending limited draft picks on the same positions over and over again?

It is one of the mystery of the universe as to how he managed to get everyone else blamed and fired but himself.

Reese and/or his staff have been one of, if not the best at judging DL in recent draft... IDK why you don't recognize that as a good thing... the fact that we could always find a stud DT in every round 2 is great because it saves cap instead of giving guys an extension and pay raise.

You don't need Snacks if you have Joseph. Instead, you have $15,000,000 to spend on other positions and maybe you make the playoffs in 2015 when the defense kept losing games in the final minute.
Kind of up to his mom isn’t it?

Be an OC preparing to face a line with snacks AND Joseph for one sec.

Be a lb playing behind those two.

Be a DC that can do gaps almost any which way ...having both.

I am targeting a beast NT this draft. 330+

This. I love Snacks but he let Joesph walk for a lot less. Then let's Hankins walk and has to draft Tomlinson. And if he doesn't blow the cash on Vernon he easily has he cash for Hankins long term.

I was very annoyed with Reese when he let Joseph walk for that contract. We had a young ascending talent and he spent the money on two aging players Beason and Cullen Jenkins.

Is gone, tie to turn our attention elsewhere. Eli Apple has to be the worst top 10 pick we ever drafted, horrible pick, I hope the next regime just has the balls to move on past some of these waste of times. I would not resign Richburg or Pugh either, Pugh is not what BBI thinks he is, his replacements don't do any worse and he is always hurt, time to say goodbye.

Made mistakes but this young kid has a chance to turn it around ... you don’t cut bait with a 22 year old... it’s foolish. Granted he’s done some stupid things as a player but not enough to give up on so soon. Oh and his mother has just went through brain surgery. No telling how this has affected him

Which ended with Philly scoring on a long screen. He gave zero effort on making a tackle on two of them and actually shied away from an INT.

He needs to be traded

Agreed - he is shockingly soft.

I wonder if Buffalo would entertain Apple for Cordy Glenn. I'd happily deal him for an extra 2nd or 3rd rounder but not sure anyone would do it. They have to get rid of him though, he is exactly the type of loser they need to move away from. Ironic that after all the bitching Apple was the worse blown pick between him/Flowers.
