Playing Rodgers is a mistake for Green Bay

TheGhostofBlueGuy : 12/17/2017 9:25 am
I understand that there is a possibility that they can make the playoffs. But the reward here is dwarfed by the risk. 13 screws in the collarbone. They would have to run the table and get a lot of help from other teams. Yes, he is the ultimate and consummate professional and I truly believe he wants to be out there to compete.

But if I am the GM and the coach, there is no way that I would put him out there so soon after surgery where there is a real possibility that that surgically repair collarbone could go south on him. Just look at Romo. Enough said.
Romo

I thought he didn't have the plates and screws put in after he broke it the first time.

That could've been part of the problem with the "early" return.
You don't really know how much risk Rodgers is taking here
djm : 12/17/2017 9:29 am : link
..and it's football. Packers have a legit shot to make the playoffs. Rodgers is always at risk when he plays.
Thank you,

Doctor.
I'm sure the doctors and surgeons were consulted before they came to

a decision. That said, if he had 13 screws put in, who is to say that there will ever be a good time to play again? Without knowing anything about it, what if the risk of breaking it again doesn't actually get better if he just waits till next year?
Also, Romo retired because of his back/spine, not collarbone.

It’s completely healed than you play.
I know this
mdthedream : 12/17/2017 9:34 am : link
if he waited till next year it has a much better to heal completely. It is a huge risk.
They say it's 80-85% healed.

This.
You can't sit Rodgers if he is cleared to play
Mike from Ohio : 12/17/2017 9:57 am : link
They are still in contention for the playoffs, and if they get in can win it with Rodgers. Sitting him and conceding the season is flat out wrong. If the primary goal of your team is to ensure your QB does not get hurt, and not winning, why are you playing the games?

Playing Rodgers is absolutely the right decision, even if he re-injures his collarbone today.
Its a medical decison
Alwaysblue22 : 12/17/2017 9:59 am : link
If the team doctors clear it you play the best QB. Rodgers knows the risk of playing pro-football. What MISTAKE is Green bay making? they are trying to WIN which should be the object of every team in the NFL except this years current version of the NY Giants.
I love that he is playing. Good for Green Bay to keep
Jimmy Googs : 12/17/2017 10:02 am : link
themselves relevant while he was out. And now they boost they give everybody on that squad and fanbase by having him back is immense.

Good for them and the NFL...
They have a chance to make
joeinpa : 12/17/2017 10:16 am : link
Play offs, of course he should play

Fan never see to understand that the mit important game these guys play is the next one. They don t think about next season
It’s up to the team and Rodgers to protect and limit risk
Sammo85 : 12/17/2017 10:17 am : link
Carolina is going to bring the heat today on him for sure. Let’s see what happens.
So the Green Bay medical and training
pjcas18 : 12/17/2017 10:19 am : link
staff

Green Bay coaching staff

Aaron Rogers agent
Aaron Rodgers himself
Aaron Rodgers personal orthopedist

all know less the TheGhostofBlueGuy

it's strange he's not making these decisions for an actual NFL team or other pro team.
More of a bargin than a risk
trueblueinpw : 12/17/2017 10:31 am : link
I mean, these guys are taking a risk every snap of every game. Heck, guys suffer injuries in practice. But it’s all part of the bargain: play pro football and maybe you’ll win fame and fortune on the gridiron but it’s certain you’ll suffer physical and maybe mental decrepitude in middle and old age. And think about the bargin that NASCAR drivers make - drive today and maybe you’ll win or maybe you’ll die in a firey wreck.

Seriously, what a dumb thread this is.

As for Romo, his back was the issue not his shoulder/collarbone.
If the worst happens and it rebreaks
UConn4523 : 12/17/2017 10:42 am : link
he has it done again and rests for 6 months. If it was this big of a risk he wouldn’t have been cleared and wouldn’t be playing.
You play him.
FStubbs : 12/17/2017 10:45 am : link
He's in his prime and the team has a small chance at a playoff spot.

If he's medically cleared to play, he plays.
If Green Bay still has a chance
JohnF : 12/17/2017 10:58 am : link
I can see letting Rodgers play, but if they're eliminated before the season ends, do you shut him down for the remaining (and meaningless) games?
Fuckin slefrak part deux over here

PhD in Dopeyness.
Medically cleared and 100% healed are not the same
KentGraham : 12/17/2017 11:35 am : link
I don't see anyone claiming to be a doctor, but on the surface this looks like a dumb decision.
