Let's face it. Other than last year the Giants have had some pretty bad seasons of late. And as the losses piled up in a given year it seemed that BBI posters ended up in one of two camps...
Camp #1. Hope the Giants lose to get better draft position.
Camp #2. Root for the Giants to win no matter what (because nothing is guaranteed in the draft).
I was always in camp #2 and thought I would never under any circumstances root against the Giants.
But when the Eli-benching fiasco happened I gave myself permission for the first time to root AGAINST the Giants, telling myself that we needed to send Mara a message that a house cleaning was in order.
Now with a chance for the Giants to get a franchise QB hanging in the balance I am actively rooting against the Giants today...even though they are playing Philly.
I used to think that BBIers who rooted for the Giants to lose just get a better draft position were somehow not real Giants fans. But given the circumstances this year, I've changed my mind.
So I'm curious. How many of you who thought you would never, ever root against the Giants, have changed your mind, and are rooting for them to lose today?
Be honest!
Also, I would not be upset with a loss.
If you're rooting for them to lose you're rooting AGAINST them...for today at least.
I understand the greater good issue, which is why I'm rooting for them to lose today, but please don't tell me that even though you want them to lose today but you're not actually rooting against them...because that doesn't make any sense.
I'm not worried about their final record - they are going to lose the next three games no matter how I root
It would be so apropos for the Eagles to lose, not harm them in the least, and the Giants miss out on their "carson wentz".
that said, no, not rooting for the Eagles.
Nothing the Eagles do (aside from winning today), including winning the superbowl, will affect our rebuild/plans
therefore, losing today, and the rest of the season, is the best possible outcome for the Giants. Therefore I am rooting FOR the Giants...to lose.
I also hope it's close so they can show other teams how to stop the Eagles.
But it's the Eagles. The last thing the Giants have ever needed any help on it's losing to them. -_-
This.
I'm watching the game though
Beat the Eagles.
If we lose, there's a small silver lining.
These are watershed moments at Jints Central.
You really need to secure the best possible draft slot. Winning any more games is beyond useless. The rest of the games should be treated as preseason games only. Thus, rooting for the team to win is one of the dumber things I’ve heard. Gee, we went 3-13 instead of 2-14. Merry Christmas.
Eli should be sent home early for the holidays and only Geno and Webb should get snaps....preferably Webb getting most.
or
win and beat the fucking eagles
Fuck Philly. Fuck their fucking fuckity fucking knuckle dragging fans. Fuck the philandering Doug Peterson and his stupid fucking visor. Fuck Carson Wentz and Donavan McNabb and Randel Cunningham and “Jaws” and Brian “Dirty” Dawkins and Duece Staley and Fletcher Cox and every other fucking Iggle scum that ever wore that shitty green uniform.
Nothing would make me happier than to see the offense light up this Philthy defense. I would love to see our defense rock Foles with brutal bone crushing hits. Is it gonna happen? I don’t know. But I’m sure as shit not rooting for anything but a serious ass thrashing of the Philthy Dirty Birds. It should demanded of the Giants players to play with pride. Nothing less should be expected of the Giants fans.
i'll worry about the draft slot after the game.
The closest I came to rooting against the Giants was two weeks ago in Oakland. I couldn't do it, but my emotions watching that game were very conflicted.
I'd love to see a win over the Eagles today. I hate that team and am sick and tired of the Giants losing to them.
No offense to the OP, but making judgment on the fandom of any other fan based on winning a game at the end of a 2-11 season, when it is obvious that having the second pick is better than having a higher pick, is being myopic.
Next two weeks losing is fine
