John Lynch loves him and he is looked at as the savior in SF. Acquiring him now would cost at least the 2nd overall pick plus more. JG isn’t going anywhere.

Yes, the 49ers acquired JG for a 2nd round pick, knowing full well they would need to sign him to an agreement in 2018 as he would become a free agent. The Giants can pursue JG, like any other team, without the need to compensate the 49ers.
