DRC- Saves 6.5
JERRY- Saves 2.5
APPLE- $ NOT SURE WITH RECENT SUSPENSION
MARSHALL-Saves 5
MANNING-Saves 10
Harris-Saves 2.5
Can we replace them with what we save? I would say yes for DRC, Marshall and Harris. Not sure about Apple. It looks like we have about 23 million in cap space. If we cut the people I suggested we would then have 37 million. Not a ton but still plenty to get work done, especially if they created for the contracts.
I'd have no problem cutting Wing.
This. Harris' contract looked ridiculous at the time, and still does today.
DRC is an interesting case--they severely cut his snaps this year even though he hasn't shown any indication of decline. I'd keep him on as the #2/#3 CB--he's certainly better than Apple.
The bonus and years 2 and 3 salary stinks of desperation.
Cut year 2 salary to $1M and he can buy himself 2018. Otherwise bye-bye.
I have no problem with any of the others getting cut.
(Besides, Eli - that's obviously going to be a different case)

If DRC was the difference between having another FA starter on the o line would you still keep him?
Plus Apple sucks

I'd have to know who the player was, what type of contract they'd require, and what other options we'd have as far as maneuvering the cap. Too hard to say.
If we're making all things equal and you're asking me to choose between a productive, reputable offensive lineman who has proven to be steady and DRC, I'd probably take the lineman.
But I'd prefer to keep DRC if possible.
I'm not sure why his usage was what it was - but I think he's still a good DB and he was still busting his ass later in the year when the games meant nothing.
Wing played a big part losing us 2 games. You can’t have that out of your punter.
I like your thinking.
I like Harris but he is no longer a return threat .Have to try and salvage Apple and I see no reason to dump DRC .
They need to replace Wing but we still need a punter so
not sure you should just cut him .
they can still be friends.
Jerry at worst is the #3 guard. DRC is still a good player and the worth money. Apple depends on Gettleman.
The rest can go.
Re-sign Cockrell. If needed keep Cockrell and cut DRC. Cockrell should be cheaper than DRC.

Would be asinine.
Think this team will be in the SB in 2018 or 2019? If yes, and you think Eli can function behind an unknown OL, then keep him....if you don't, you cut him and and use that 10M to start the rebuild....
Hard decisions have to be made for the future, and may not show immediate results.....but we can't continue the same path of mistakenly thinking we are only few players away, like we have the last 6 seasons......
Historically, teams always improve after Marshall leaves.
We save 6.5m, and then we have to find someone to fill that hole anyway.
Just doesn’t make sense to me
I don't know who is available, whether it's FA or draft.
With Marshall and Harris, it's easy to believe we can find better players, and that the cost would be cheaper.
With Manning, you can probably sign a Geno Smith as a cheaper stop gap until Webb/Drafted QB have some seasoning, if you think Eli is kaput. If you think Manning still has gas in the tank, it gets complicated. How long is Eli good for? What do you think of Webb? the current crop of draft QB?
With DRC, this is his last year under contract. IF he's in your plans beyond this year, extend his contract and reduce the cap hit. IF he's not AND you can find a quality multi year replacement, dump him and get the new guy. the way most contracts are set up, the first year hit will be lower than DRC's current hit. unless there's a roster bonus due, there's no rush to cut him til we see what happens in FA or draft.
