Steve Tisch meeting

Giantsblue56 : 1/6/2018 5:07 pm
Candidates later in the process according to the beat writers. Can someone please explain how that works? Schumer, Patricia and McDaniels may all be coaching for another month. I’m guessing if this is true it means he’ll get introduced after the decision is made???
Tisch has a history..

I believe Tisch gets to meet them once they are ready to make a final

It will have to be after the decision if they want to beat other teams to the punch.

decision.

Agreed.
I give Tisch credit for staying out until late,

since he's not a football guy -- and for insisting he have a say, since he owns half the team. He's accountable for the decision, too. No saying afterward "Hey, I didn't have anything to do with it."
Tisch....

I think the reasons are to let Mara, Gettleman and Abrams to handle the heavy lifting with the technical details, they are the football guys.

Tisch though will get to judge the character. Tisch may not know football, but he does know business and probably wants to ensure he gets a chance to add his perspective to the intangibles.

yeah, ok, sure.
As Parcells would say,

"He doesn't know if the ball is blown up or stuffed with feathers."
McDaniels should leave his wife at home for that one.

Wouldn’t want him to start off on the wrong foot with ownership.
To paraphrase Bill

“Let him (DG) make the call. The rest of you rich boys , shut up.”
Let Gettleman handle it

is my advice. The rest are know it all proven assholes.

Keep trying. One of these days you might be funny or interesting. Probably not, though.
When it's down to one candidate who Mara and Gettleman agree on....

Tisch will get to meet him in order to sign off on it. It will be a formality for the most part (assuming the candidate doesn't show up drunk). This is just my guess, it's not like I know this for a fact.
I think this is significant

The Giants have been very stable and very successful for a long time. That’s why Tisch likely stayed away and let his football people run things and he signed off.

Then Ben McAdoo went rogue and benched Eli Manning causing the biggest PR disaster in Giants history.

At this point, Tisch stepping in and got involved in Oakland I think likely prompting the earlier than planned Reese & McAdoo firing.

I think Tisch is going to assert himself into this process right now. I doubt that its a rubber stamp this time.

What I’m hoping for ?

A true objective and real head coaching search.

The Steelers did this when then they last hired. They started with a dozen candidates and interviewed. The media presumed favorites were Russ Grimm and Ken Whisenhunt.

The Steelers took over 3 weeks. They did a second round of interviews. Whisenhunt, Cowhers chosen successor, was getting antsy as he had other interviews and offers and pressured the Steelers to go faster. They did not relent. They told Whisenhunt he could take another job if he wanted. he did.

The Steelers selected 3 for second round. Grimm, Ron Rivera and Tomlin, an absolute dark horse.

They of course ultimately decided upon Tomlin, even canceling Riveras scheduled 2nd interview.

I hope the Giants run this kind of process. I think there is no candidate head and shoulders above everyone else and the Giants should be very deliberate and make people jump through hoops to see what shakes out.
