NFT: A glorious college basketball day!

UVA pounds Carolina AND Dook loses to NC State.

West Virginia is legit and Jevon Carter is having an All-American kind of season. Trae Young still got his share of points but Carter and co. harassed him into 8 turnovers.

Between Dook and Oklahoma and Xavier, three of the top 7 lost tonight.
Wolfpack! Nice win for us tonight!

Was excellent.
The Heels were pretty bad
Greg from LI : 1/6/2018 11:08 pm : link
We played a solid game but I don't think I've ever seen a Carolina team so careless with the ball. A whole lot of unforced turnovers. Outside of Berry they were terrible. Luke Maye is being exposed big-time.
almost as nice

as seeing Cuse lose at home to ND playing without their 2 best players.

UNC just doesn't play well in that building. They could play in Chapel Hill next week and kick their ass, but haven't played well in a long time in Virginia.

Still see the typical issues for Virginia come tournament time. Their guys get tight, refs call the game closer, and they have a 10 minute stretch where they can't throw the ball in the ocean.

UNC has some issues with their post game, but I dont see any dominant team or even close to it this year. They turned the ball over way way too much today. At least 4 that I remember where they just threw lazy passes near half court that lead to wide open dunks. UVA plays well enoughly defensively, don't make it worse by just being lazy with some passes leading to dunks
Maye will be fine
MookGiants : 1/6/2018 11:18 pm : link
he has his flaws, but they need to get more out of the 5 spot to open things up a bit. Not sure if any of the three will develop well enough this year.

Getting Cam Johnson into the flow will help big time. He's still knocking off some rust.

Berry is awesome. Roy will have this team ready to go for March while everyone on UNC message boards goes into mass hysteria over the last couple games.
You lost to Wofford at home

lost to Santa Clara.

It happens. 2009 team which I still contend is the best college basketball team in the last 15 years at least lost their first 2 conference games.

This team is no where near the last two or 2009, but still good enough to get to a final four and potentially win it, mostly because i think the rest of the teams aren't anywhere near what they've been in the past.

The way...
FatMan in Charlotte : 1/6/2018 11:57 pm : link
UNC looks right now, they should be a NIT team!

Final 4?? They haven't even got into the meat of the ACC schedule and they already have a few weak losses, which looks less and less like an anomoly

Awww. Somebody's tits are sore.

Especially considering your fuck ass school should have been given the death penalty.

ND and UNC. Good lord man. You should be a Cowboys fan too.

Disappointing ending for S.U. today. I love Boeheim, but I thought a timeout would have been a good idea to set up a play instead of letting Battle make believe he was Michael Jordan and dribbling the clock down near midcourt until he was ready to make a move.
Battle is our best player, yes, but he sure ain't Jordan!
Bad loss.

If you can't rebound against ND you deserve to lose. I suspect that Boeheim had enough at that point. They're terrible.

Thanks NCAA.
'Tis a long season.

Heels will be fine come March.
UVA is really good at home...
bw in dc : 1/7/2018 7:25 am : link
In fact, they did the same thing to UNC last year at JPJ when UNC had a better team. UVA is the best defensive team in the country. Not a lot of great individual defenders but Bennett teaches some great team concepts. This has become the UVA brand.

But they will likely suffer the same fate as they have the last several years. They will wear out defensively and not have enough offense. And, unfortunately, not get past the Sweet 16...at best.

UNC is not the same team as last year. They will undoubtedly get better. Roy Williams is tremendous at molding his teams. Hopefully everyone can stay eligible now that they are back taking real classes...

Haha, what a life, right? Pick and choose whichever school is “popular” and wins all the time (you get to choose different schools in different sports too!) then spend your life talking shit about how awesome your teams are while ridiculing those that root for or have gone to schools that actually lose and go through long droughts of failure.

It’s a shame too because Mook is an awesome fan otherwise. But he simply shouldn’t be allowed to talk shit to anybody that actually has to suffer through miserable seasons and long stretches of futility. It carries no weight. At all.

Xavier may have been guilty of looking ahead

Boeheim wanted a time out at the end, but Battle waved him off. Did anyone else see that?
Loved seeing ND

win @Cuse without their two best players. I thought the refs missed dozens of Cuse fouls and Nd still found a way to win despite the home cooking and having their worst shooting game of the year.

If they can find a way to win @Tech, they’ll have some cushion to still makwntjbe NCAA despite Colson and Farrell being out.
Cuse looked really athletic and played some good
Metnut : 1/7/2018 10:54 am : link
interior D when they didn’t foul, but they don’t really have any coherent offense.

this year's team isn't that good, but who cares. They could go to the NIT for all I care - Mission Already Accomplished.

I get your point but if that’s your mindset then why be on NCAAB threads this season? Seems like kind of a cop-out to just point to last year each time Carolina loses IMO. I’m sure if they make another run this year you’ll care. Not fair to have it both ways.

Only in response to those putting this years UNC team down. Of course there's going to be a rebuild / retool after your two time finalist lost most of the team to the pros. Especially when Roy hasn't chased the one and done at 'the top 10 school' down the road. This season is very much relaxing - of course we 'care' but it was like 2012 with the Giants ... a relaxing victory lap season

By the way for the guy picking on Mooks allegiances - since when has Notre Dame football been a perennial BCS contender? It's like giving someone a hard time for cheering on Michigan State.
The Buckeyes putting it on MSU!

Will always appreciate Thad Matta, but due in large part to his health issues, it was time for a change. The program had lost its energy. Holtmann has made a huge impact with many of the same players. Keita Bates Diop looks like a player of the year candidate

Things are wide open in CBB this season
haha

I must have missed all of the ND success since I've been a fan, I'm sorry I somehow missed all their smashing success.

They get ripped for being "irrelevant" for two decadesand at the same time we get ripped for jumping on a bandwagon essentially.

Since I really started being a fan, ND hasn't won shit. No big bowl games, nothing.
They were just in the NC

A few years ago. Don't act like they're Little Sisters of the Poor.
It's been 5 years
MetsAreBack : 1/7/2018 9:23 pm : link
And they got the ever living shit knocked out of them.

Are they little sisters of poor? No, but Univ of Washington and Michigan State have had as much if not more success last 15-20 years. It's not like Arcasenal jumping on Alabama's bandwagon here.
