NFT: Knicks Chat: Jack guaranteed, Willy trade interest

DanMetroMan : 1/7/2018 10:43 am
DALLAS — With the Knicks exploring what to do with their four-center glut by the Feb. 8 trading deadline, NBA sources say the club has entertained more inquiries about Willy Hernangomez than any other player on their roster.

The Knicks do not want to give up the 23-year-old Hernangomez — out of the rotation behind starter Enes Kanter and Kyle O’Quinn — unless they get a prime talent in return. So far they haven’t gotten any concrete offers, but teams that have been high on European players in the past have shown the most interest. The Knicks prefer to deal O’Quinn, who likely will opt out of his contract, and they have gotten only mild interest from a few playoff-contending teams who see him as a backup piece-NYP

In fairness to the Knicks, they're not shopping him, they're taking calls. They're saying they believe in this guy's future but they'd be willing to trade him if they're bowled over. That's fair.

O'Quinn is the guy they want to trade.
A little risky
bceagle05 : 1/7/2018 1:41 pm : link
with Kanter and O'Quinn having opt-outs, but you have to listen. Lee is the guy I really want to get rid of once Hardaway returns.
We need more discussion regarding the Knicks today

This is such a brutal time in the Knicks season whether to begin the tank or not and to start trading assets

they are retiring Derek Harper's number tonight in Dallas. I don't know if they'll show any of it on the MSG broadcast. Not sure if Dallas meant to do it when the Knicks were in town - he's obviously much more a Mav than a Knick. But he started a ton of playoff games here and was one of the most important players during our last stretch of sustained relevance.

Is the one big you keep for the rebuild. They other 3 can be had. I would like to keep Kantor but I believe he is the best chip we have.
Up four going into the fourth.

The worst part is Barnes is throwing haymakers at Thomas and the ref completely ignored it

Hahaha
Can't blame the Dallas Dwarfs for acting like tough guys...
manh george : 1/7/2018 11:04 pm : link
with the refs acting as their mommies. The mommies were at fault. Heck, they only missed five or six muggings, plus continuing to miss all the times KP gets slapped on the wrists and arms on his shots.

KP would be averaging close to three points more a game if the refs could see all the way up to KP's wrists--and the Knicks would have about two more wins. The Knicks need to keep complaining about this until the NBA starts to pay attention.

Agree with this. KP must be the least ref-protected player in the NBA.
Bad calls tend to average out in the long run.
JustaDiscussion : 1/8/2018 12:37 am : link
I still believe the Knicks are lucky that the refs don't call a travel on Kanter every time he touches the ball. He always seems to take 3 steps without ever attempting to dribble. Knicks won the game regardless, so in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter. As for KP getting calls, if I were a ref I wouldn't give him the benefit of the doubt either because of all of his flopping. Especially with how frequent it was in the beginning of the year. I was happy though when KP manned up and got in the Maverick dude's face after he threw KP to the ground. I like KP better when he plays tougher and drives towards the basket. I hope that trend continues.
The 4th quarter officiating was atrocious
Matt M. : 1/8/2018 2:03 pm : link
It wasn't even the "let them play" attitude that the MSG crew was initially pushing. I hate that mindset, because not making a call is just as influential on the outcome as making a call. But, they were making the wrong calls in situations that were blatantly the other way. KP was dragged to the floor twice; once he was whistled and the other was no call. Jack was grabbed and pulled and ultimately dragged to the floor and he was whistled. Jack was nailed in the ribs and knocked to the floor on the floating go ahead basket with no call.

That 4th quarter may have amounted to O'Quinn's best performance as a Knick. He had the obvious rebounds, a block, a few baskets. But, he was passing so well and he was out on the perimeter defending much quicker and smaller guys flawlessly.

I've lurked a while.

None of my friends care about basketball. The Knicks are interesting for the first time in over a decade. I felt like discussing them. The people here seemed more reasonable than most. Do you have a previous handle?
