He is 100% guarenteed to be a franchise QB/ All pro. And will solve your problems for 15 years. If you don't. You will be in the wilderness for decades.
The Giants were unable to find a suitable backup Qb in the mid to late rounds. Does anyone actually trust that they will find a franchise QB there? Great Brady was a 6th round pick and since him how many other franchise QB’s were found in the 6th round? For every Prescott there is dozens Jesse Palmer’s, Danny Kanell’s, Ryan Nassib’s, etc.
RE: True. but if you draft someone with the first or second pick Â

Rick Mirer, Ryan Leaf, Tim Couch, Robert Griffin the Turd say otherwise.
But it seems obvious that you have a better chance of getting it right during the first round than later; I would think this is especially true with the second overall pick.
Some guys here just don t want a quarterback in the first round, fine that s a legitimate position.
But trying to justify that position with the argument that there are no guarantees picking 2, and siting quarterbacks that came later and we're great, is silly.
Picking with the second pick, increases your chances of getting it right, and getting that next franchise quarterback is the most important move a team can make.
It s reportedly a strong quarterback class, Giants have second pick, seems simple to me.

This was the early thinking. Now it sounds like people are backing away from thinking this class is so good. In fact Florio on the NBC pregame show said some GM/scout thinks last years top 3 is better than either Darnold or Rosen.
Tannehill, Roethlisberger, Flacco, Bortles, Mariota, Luck, Watson, Smith/Mahomes, Rivers, Wentz, Eli, Stafford, Rodgers, Trubisky, Newton, Ryan, Winston, Goff, and Palmer. The majority of the starting QB’s in the NFL were 1st round picks.

Dan Fouts-3, Joe Montana-3, Tony Romo-undrafted, Kurt Warner-undrafted, Sonny Jurgensen-4, Johnny Unitas-9.
Those are all valid counterpoints, although I'd say that Moon is an exception because there was a cultural context at play surrounding black QBs at that time.
Still, all good examples. But it's worth noting that people can point to current QBs for evidence of 1st rounders but have to use 60 years of NFL history to find the counter argument.

I wasn't necessarily pointing out non-first round starters, I was pointing out non-first rounders among the GOATs.

I'm not sure if my point is any less valid with regards to Moon as a draft pick rather than a starter, but fair enough. Your point is definitely well made either way.

Dak Prescott (4th round), Ryan Fitzpatrick (round 7), Brain Sipe (round 13), Roger Staubach, (round 10) Bart Starr (round 17)
Worst 1st round draft pick QB flops ...
Tim Tebow (25th over-all), Tim Couch (#1 over-all) , Cade McNown (12th overall), Todd Blackledge (7th over-all), David Carr (#1 over-all), David Klingler (#6 over-all), Andre Ware (#7 over-all), Jim Druckenmiller (26th over-all), Heath Shiler (#3 over-all), Rich Campbell (#6 over-all), Akili Smith (#3 overall), Art Schlichter ($4 over-all), JaMarcus Russell (#1 over-all), Ryan Leaf (#2 over-all) .....
QB is the most important player on the field, therefore, you'd better get it right .....
You'd better be sure the guy you pick is DESERVING of that honor, NOT that the guy who happens to be the best that year (when you have the need for a QB), else it can DESTROY your team.

One more for the list - Todd Marinovich (#24 overall)
than when not picking 2nd. It's almost that simple. A lot depends on how they evaluate these guys, but it's basically a no brainer if any of these guys grade out high.
As was highlighted above many of the great NFL QBs like Tom Brady were not top ten draft picks and where not hyped by pundits as a can't miss " generational" QB.... you can not forecast how the skills of a QB will translate to the NFL NO MATTER WHERE HE IS DRAFTED. Brady was drafted in the SIXTH ROUND. Therefore, if you have a Shitty OL and poor run game wouldn't it make more sense at the top of the draft to take a lineman who can help you immediately or a RB who can be explosive and put fear in the opponent and also step in and play? Instead of taking another QB who will be holding a Clipboard behind Eli and Webb?
Point is, there's a lot of 1st round QBs, but more flops. There's just something that's a wee-bit more painful when you make a mistake on a QB that high.
Children have more sound logic.
pffft
To be fair, nobody really thought Bortles was anything that special. Hos pro day saved him. Bortles was taken almost by d3fault.
Children have more sound logic.
Still waiting for you to answer my question - what's your previous handle(s)?
