Because, in the end, sports radio is a horrible, awful, no-good medium.

I've tried a few times and never last more than a couple of minutes. My ride home no longer consists of WFAN - switched to podcasts instead.

I wonder what ratings are. I'm guessing the older crowd keeps WFAN on regardless but curious what the younger or middle aged ratings are.

Reminds of the Seinfeld episode where Kramer wants Jerry to get in on the pirated cable feed. Jerry tells him its stealing but Kramer says they just "write it off" even though they both dont know what it means. too funny

They are honestly they worst sports talk radio show I have ever heard. All 3 of them are unbelievably bad.

he was a pioneer of sports radio for decades. I can see why he'd turn people off but to say he was awful is completely false. Very few radio personalities, in any genre not just sports, can do a solo show like he did.

Wrong episode - the write off bit was when Jerry's stereo breaks and Kramer tries to get him a new one by sending it in an insured package.

I will never understand what supposedly made him a "great listen", unless it was to laugh at just how much of a buffoon he is.

I'm 35 and still listen out of sheer laziness. I don't hate them, but don't love them either. During football season I like the sports talk, but when the season ends I'll likely switch back and forth with music. I wish they had gone with Malusis, maybe with Maggie Gray.

don't listen to wfan now as much when in car. only turn to it if I do when Joe and Evan are on..but really need xm serious to listen now to and reasonable football/sports talk at all.

MF was good at some points though arrogant. And had pure entertainment value at times..plus would give good interviews at times with guests.

this is even more reason to tune into ESPN radio.

Still can't get over the fact that the hosts on the "flagship station" of the Giants and Yankees mostly hate the Giants and Yankees.

I know that it's impossible because fan loyalties do not always divide up so equally, but I wish there was one station that focused more on Giants/Yankees and another that focused more on Jets/Mets - which, in my experience, are the most common baseball/football fan splits.

have talked more Giants football in the last week than Francesca did in his entire run!! They were awkward and the pace was forced last week but listening today they seem much more comfortable and I'm enjoying the show because its all been about football. I didnt think I'd like Bart Scott from some of antics with the Jets but I find him interesting maybe cause he's kind of not politically correct like most of these talking heads.

Bart Scott obviously has no idea what he’s doing but the format of three people on a mic is somewhat doomed to fail. Usually you only want two people to carry the load and then you can bring in others for color and contrast.

Or sample shows? You have one of the main hosts (Scott) who has no clue about one of the major sports, baseball. How the hell are they supposed to do this show from March-October if he knows nothing about the sport? When they started I said they won't last 12 months. I now am changing that to 6. They won't last 6 months.

I liked Carlin when he was first at WFAN and was Mike & Chris's "producer" and when he did overnights. I always thought him, Adam Schein, and Malusis were similar in their approach and in their style...

I'll admit the show is a tough listen right now and it seems like they're struggling to figure out who does what. Bart Scott was an odd pick and I'm really not a huge fan of him, especially in that format. And Maggie Gray? It's obvious the people that do the hiring at FAN thought she sounded like Kim Jones (whom they really wanted!) but she is not even remotely comparable to Kim Jones!!

For the longest time I too thought it would be Kim Jones and Malusis, who are great together, but that never came to fruition.

I also agree Gianotti is doing a nice job in the morning with Esiason.

He's been great.

Has to find its stride. Not horrible in my opinion. Agree with other posters about Bart Scott.

observer, but imo your take on Francessa is driven by emotion, dislike, whatever. Yes, he could bloviate with the best, but he was provocative, mostly knowledgeable, and took stands on controversies (A-Rod, OBJ, PH, PSU and Paterno, BBonds, etc.). You didn't have to agree with his positions, but they were, in the main, and as far as sports talk goes, informed.

His arrogance could be a turn-off, but often his clueless callers warranted that response, not always, but often. He'd never be a guy I wanted to be locked up in a room or foxhole with--after all, it would be all about him--but in terms of radio entertainment on sports there were few other worthwhile options.

I don't even tune in WFAN anymore, at all, it's a wasteland.
