Josh McDaniels looking for GM/HC position?

At least not right away. If he’s willing to work with Gettleman and get the ship righted, he and Abrams might be a good combo, but both would need to learn a bit under Gettleman I think before they assume personnel powers respectively.

If he’s insistent as part of any offer here from the Giants I think he’ll lose consideration:

I read it to mean McD wants to bring a pats FO guy with him. Where he wouldn't be "running the show" necessarily, but has his guy there.

That might also disqualify him from the Giants gig and that's cool with me, too.

know the validity of this report out there that he wants full control. If it's true and he does, that's another red flag for me. This guy had 1 HC job for 1.5 years - failed - and now he wants full control over a roster as well?

The guy has a huge ego. But I doubt anyone's gonna give him GM power straight from OC, after he flamed out in his first try as a HC.

And he had full control in that first HC job, and arguably was worse at roster management than coaching.

As you saw with the career of Luck, the GM had a different idea of what players to surround him with than the coaching staff, leading to the mess they are in right now.

His own boss right now is essentially the de facto GM.

If you are going to take some of these lesser NFL jobs where instability and chaos has gone on, you want some control of the roster or be comfortable with who is running the show. If that organization has neither, than you better ask for that responsibility.

non starter. Gettleman has the background and proven experience for the GM position. This has already been decided and prior statements from DG indicate he is here for the long haul. The HC hire will tell us a lot. Think this is still an open contest or why the BS if Wilks is part of a prearranged package deal. Which it might be.

You can give him the coaching job and throw in a title of assistant GM with the promise of full control when Gettleman retires. And you only have to make good on the promise if you still want McDaniels around by then.

Indy has been a shit show so he might want some say there. Gettleman is reasonably proven so it may be less important here.

from the beginning By Mara And Tisch. The fact that Abrams is staying as well leads me to think the front office is looking for a quick turnaround. WE were !!/5 two years ago so it is not out of the question looking at the playoff teams this year, and their previous records. Think ELI and Spags could be holdovers as well. Our upcoming high draft choices and getting our injured back could put us back in the mix fast hopefully. As GM McDaniels would have to do a complete overhaul including new staff, scouting etc. A complete rebuild is not what we want. MO.

What makes you think he could be a pretty good HC? Was it his tremendous performance in Denver, which rivaled McAdoo's in terms of rapid dumpster fire status? Or maybe it was when he took over for Shurmur as OC in St. Louis and guided the Rams to one of the worst offenses in modern NFL history?

Hoping a person who has failed will somehow change to become successful is no different than hoping that one with one with no experience will be successful. In fact, it might even be more difficult to expect change, especially from someone who went running back to his comfort zone when things got tough.
