gun to my head, I'm picking 'Bama. In the past when they've been beaten I feel like the majority of the time it's against a quarterback that can move which creates another aspect for their defense to prepare for.
This is obvious, but turnovers are the key. If Georgia can generate field position and/or points off turnovers then they will be in great shape (obviously)
Fromm has had a hell of a season, but if this football game is a grind it out, run the ball, wear the other team out type of game with limited mistakes, I'm inclined to pick Bama.
That said, the 2 headed monster at the running back position for Georgia is a force so we'll see.
If only because maybe it makes Saban think about finally taking the Giant job.
Seconded. Same reason I rooted for them two years ago in the first Clemson game. Plus I like watching greatness. What Saban has done down there is nothing short of amazing
it's fine to make statements about the team -- don't roll it over at posters. It is escalating and straying over the line. You may be having fun - but nobody else is
if one can't make fun of Arc's absurd fandom of Alabama (at least my wife attended UNC and has a Swahili degree to show for it) -- then what can we make fun of around here??
Though as a fellow NYR/Mets/Knicks/recent Giants fan -- I don't blame Arc for finding a bandwagon to climb aboard.

I was waiting for this! Got it out of the way nice and early. Good man.
I adore you -- and arc -- but you always lean on joking around. Unfortunately, a lot of posters find it offensive and abusive and don't share your's and arc's view of it, because we get complaints about it. It's a little different when you do it on a hockey thread -- where all of you share the same hilarity.
I am therefore begging you to make comments about the sport, the team, the players, the umps and the plays --- and refrain from throwing insults at other posters
AL.com had a report last week that Tagovailoa was going to see snaps in the Sugar Bowl, but it never happened - presumably because Bama got out ahead and controlled things steadily from there.
I wonder if Saban will consider playing him at all tonight if they struggle offensively or fall behind.

Yes, I love his skillset - much, much better passer than Hurts. He's not a statue, either. He can move. He can throw accurately on the run. He's going to be an exponentially better prospect than Hurts.
He was better in the Crimson/White game all the way back in April.

Saban in his jacket and tie standing behind the QBs is priceless...

LOL, yeah, good looks around these sporting parts are hard to find.
If we're still at 0 come halftime I think Saban will consider a QB change. Will take some balls to do it in a spot like this but... if anyone has 'em, it's Saban.
I was thinking that as well. He struggles with some throws but he’s only a freshman. If he develops, he could end up being a true franchise QB in a league diluted with one read donk mobile QBs.
That's only because you're not recording it with your cell phone. As it's happening. So you can post it on instagram. And other people can watch it. Again. Because you recorded it on your cell phone. And you were there. Recording it. With a cell phone.
for Black Panther- a Marvel Studios movie which is owned by Disney which in turn owns ESPN. Well done. The marketing people officially think we are all idiots. And Kendrick has sold out to the Man.
but if we traded down to the 8-12 range and got a shitload of picks and took Smith, I’m on board.
I don’t think it’s crazy. I think he might be the one player who could completely turn the Giants defense around next year with the pieces already in defense.
Not saying he’s the best defensive player in the draft or maybe even the best LB — but he’d kill it with the Giants with his skill set. Speed, awesome blitzer, can cover, true sideline to sideline LB playmaker. Won’t have to worry about getting caught in the trash with the DL in front of him. No more getting gashed by mobile QBs.
that can change a game, but if Bama wins, we'll just hear about how UGA needs to overcome bad calls and keep the lead.
They cost UGA points on the blocked punt and then another 15 yards of field position and a 1st down on the facemask.
Huge impact.
I'm less bothered by the punt. He might have been offside it was close. They missed a false start ... sure... but they would have just re kicked 5 yards back and Georgia had a nice return anyway. Net yardage was close.
The missed face mask looks like it's going to be gamechanging though
It was on go90 fromm was one of the and, just watching him you knew he was going to e apecial. Carried himself like a college an even as a senior in high school...
bounced in the air and got intercepted equate to its because he's a Freshman?
Because he should have never thrown it. He just chucked toward a marginally open player, off balance.
No he didn’t. He did a good job avoiding pressure and sliding up in the pocket. Pressure came across his face at the last second as he was releasing the ball. It was a fluke play.
serious question, why are you so negative about Bama? Why is it over if they only get a field goal? Maybe it's being a Mets/Rangers thing that you're just pessimistic as a fan overall, but I have no idea how anyone could say the game is over if they only get 3 to make it a one score game, really strange. Especially for a team who has done nothing but win over the last decade basically
of what is and what isn't a catch I cannot tell anymore. Crazy that what was easy to call, is now mind numbing. It is not like he bobbled it, more like adjusting his grip.
The ball was glued to one hand. It didn't rotate in his hand. One hand came off and back on. Right hand was on it and in contol the entire time after the foot was down.

Just a gameflow feel. The defense has been on the field a lot, they've given up about 50 3rd downs at this point.
Bama can still win, but they usually don't win this way - they usually control play and get out ahead. They're not really built to play from behind like this.
I cannot understand why the offensive player can grab the facemask and it is ok. Makes no sense. Lineman get called for hands to the face and yet the runner can do it and no call...has to be the stupidest non call in football.
RE: How was that not delay of game a few plays ago Â
overcoming an insurmountable 7 point deficit with 10+ points to go, never thought they could do it
Oh god, let it go. You've done the same thing 5000 times.
Just own your mind numbing comment. It would be the equivalent of me as a Yankees fan in 2001 saying the game was over because they were down a run in the 8th inning.
I know you're stuck in Mets fan mode, but just own the comment and take the ball busting and enjoy your win.
If I ever post something like that about a team that has won over 50% of the last 9 titles, please call me a fucking moron.
Georgia disnt have to do much in the second half but they did nothing, absolutely nothing and it'll haunt them for a very long time.
a case study about importance of winning the 4th quarter, half-time adjustments, and defensive plays. Nothing here should be too shocking, Bama is a team that plays all 4 quarters even if not perfectly.

LOL, why are you so hung up on this?
All I said was I think they need to get in the endzone otherwise the game could get away. Georgia had converted like 80% of their 3rd downs at that point and the defense had spent so much time on the field.
I didn't say the game was over when they settled for three. I didn't turn the game off.
What a move to go to the back-up, true freshman QB in the 2nd half. That could have totally back fired. Saban shows his stuff. Again, great football game. Outside of the QB Tua, two DT's stood out in this game. Payne from Bama and Thompson from Georgia impressed me big time. I would take either on our team.
what kind of coverage that was, someone had to not get the right call because he was open by 10 yards on 3rd and 27.
Fun game, but this is just old and this is probably the worst team Bama is going to have for at least a few years.
Georgia got fucked bad by the whistle, but 2nd and 27 you can not give up a touchdown
Cover 2. Safety just shit the bed. Tua said he looked him off, but there was no one in the general vicinity to "look him off" to. Safety has that deep half of the field and was in no man's land covering no one.
that had to be for Georgia fans there. I almost know the feeling being at the final four in 2016, but this has to actually be worse, they haven't won in nearly 40 years and Bama doesn't look like they're going to stop anytime soon.
Add in the prices they paid to see it, too, oooff.
Alabama looked like garbage and then came back and won it with a true freshman QB, RB, and LT in the 2nd half.
The thing about college football is that a program like Alabama basically has a whole 2nd team of studs sitting on the sidelines waiting to take over. Dalvin Tomlinson was a 2nd round pick and didn't start until he was a senior!
Pulls the QB who’s been the starter all year. Didn’t even give him one series to turn it around. Made the move. That’s just great coaching and it got them another Natty. Roll Tide, Roll!

I was prepared to kill him for that, but it worked immediately.

Like Chamberlain's swinging gate at Gettysburg. Pretty gutsy call to pull a player who, I believe they said, was 25-2 as a starter. But he knew his men. I was pulling hard for The Bulldogs, but hats off to Alabama.
Feel bad for #14 Georgia. He won't ever want to watch that game.
I hope some Saban haters saw his post game presser. Â
He was extremely gracious and humble.I keep beating this drum, but he’s actually a really good guy. The public perception that he’s such a jerk is just not a really accurate perception. He’s testy at times, but who wouldn’t be in that business. I’ve met him, and he’s very shy, but that shouldn’t be confused with being a jerk. He’s a nice humble guy I’m person. Reminds me of Jim Boeheim. He come s across as a jerk to some people, but that doesn’t tell the whole story.
Totally understand that people find it hard to root for ‘Bama. If I didn’t have a connection to ‘Bama, I’d probably root for Georgia too. They’ll be back. Fromm is excellent and they have the top recruiting class coming in. And Kirby Smart is going to continue to build a powerhouse.
guys like Hurt can't transfer to be able to play the rest of his college career.
Sure he can. He can transfer tall an FCS school and play right away, or he can transfer to another D1, but have to sit out a year. If he goes that route, after sitting out a year, he will still be a junior eligibility wise.
Fuck Georgia.
This is obvious, but turnovers are the key. If Georgia can generate field position and/or points off turnovers then they will be in great shape (obviously)

Seconded. Same reason I rooted for them two years ago in the first Clemson game. Plus I like watching greatness. What Saban has done down there is nothing short of amazing

Exactly. Good lord.

Deleting the UAB post was totally uncalled for.
Regardless. I'll keep it to the game.
Save B
and arc too!
If they win the turnover battle, and get this crowd on their side early, they will win...big advantage with their FG kicker...
I wonder if Saban will consider playing him at all tonight if they struggle offensively or fall behind.

The freshman has the tools, but you never know until the bullets fly. Hurts has the physical ability to be a very good passer too, he just isnt

Yup. Taking Barkley at 2 when Michel (or other good backs) will be there in the second would be a huge mistake.
Ding, ding.
Never been a fan of Hurts. He looks dismal so far tonight.

He's great on his feet - he makes a lot of good plays with the ball in his hands, but he's just not a good passer.
I'm starting to think Saban may honestly need to roll the dice on Tua if Bama is going to have a chance in this game.
Hurts doesn't scare anyone down the field.
Jesus.
Here's the part where Damien Harris doesn't touch the ball for an entire quarter.
Aaand a huge sack.
Download the go90 app and check it out.
The D is getting tired already.
Pull Hurts.
Saban’s teams against adjust.

4 for Bama.
Why is it laughable that they called it roughing?
He didn't hit him hard, but you under no circumstance can let a guy take basically 3 full steps and then hit the QB and not call it
Bama, they won the toss and deferred
This offense is prehistoric.

I love College football of course I’m watching
Intimidated by Saban.
Or completely fucking incompetent.
Or both.
That's two absolutely huge game changing plays in a row they fucked up.
They cost UGA points on the blocked punt and then another 15 yards of field position and a 1st down on the facemask.
Huge impact.

Inches away from a huge play to Ridley.
Really good throw.
This is disgraceful
Now bama moving.
Half of Alabama moved before the snap. So it was a dead play. Refs didn't cost them anything there.

I guess the flag just fell out of the officials pocket on 2nd down
And all the announcers can talk about is how the QB change has given them life.
This can't be real. It's just so random.
Now they're going to back off a bit and it'll open things up for Harris and Bo.

And ESPN doesn't bother with a replay on the holding non call.
Didnt think Saban had the balls, but good on him
Possible position change. Hell of an athlete.
shit...
No way.
Common sense is so rare in sports. Nice to see
Mecole Hardman is a great kid too. What a play, happy to see it
INT!
So many good backs. Completely abandoned the run.
Jesus christ you see that on every INT right in front of the teams bench
Kirby needs to get his team behind the white line.
Jesus christ you see that on every INT right in front of the teams bench
Completely ridiculous.
No one wants to watch you throw flags asshole. Just spot the fucking ball and shut the fuck up.
Or not.

I think it was a joke about the fighting.
Have they said what happened to him?
As what? What position, back up to Collins? He's 6 ft 220. Hits like a truck, yes.
Definitely. Most have him pegged for the second round. He'd be tremendous value there
Georgia made it easy. Can't keep running every play up the middle.
Gotta stick with the run a bit.
Yeah, next year is gonna be his year. He's definitely their most talented RB prospect.
I still don't think they use Damien enough. But they have a luxury with these 4 backs.
Settle for 3 again and this thing is gonna get away. Have to get in here.

I really didn't think they'd get even. They still haven't won.
Besides, you do the same shit with the Yankees all the time.
Just run it. Don't even risk throwing.
I cannot understand why the offensive player can grab the facemask and it is ok. Makes no sense. Lineman get called for hands to the face and yet the runner can do it and no call...has to be the stupidest non call in football.
Bama refs want what they want.
Phantom DPIs...
They could have run another play and then called TO.
FUCK.
Yeah, seriously. He's got to be emotionally devastated.
Blankenship is a good kicker though he can hit this
Can't wait to watch him next year.
What a game.
Fun game, but this is just old and this is probably the worst team Bama is going to have for at least a few years.
Georgia got fucked bad by the whistle, but 2nd and 27 you can not give up a touchdown
Sorry. Maybe next year.
just pathetic defense
Oh god, let it go. You've done the same thing 5000 times.

Yea that was nuts. I don’t know why you don’t run a safer call in that spot and make Bama’s Kicker force double OT.
Georgia disnt have to do much in the second half but they did nothing, absolutely nothing and it'll haunt them for a very long time.
just pathetic defense
Yeah, that's really unique to college.
I'm actually just really happy for Pappanastos. That poor kid was never going to hear the end of it if they had lost this game.
He would have gotten the Steve Bartman treatment.
What a game.

No way Hurts does that....
What does "10+ points to go" mean?
I respect the hell out of him, but if you're not a Bama fan, why would you ever be happy for Saban?
Sincerely,
Jaken Hurts

a case study about importance of winning the 4th quarter, half-time adjustments, and defensive plays. Nothing here should be too shocking, Bama is a team that plays all 4 quarters even if not perfectly.

He either tied or surpassed one of Bear Bryant's records. That is an incredible accomplishment.

Who fucking cares. Get over it.
Alabama looked like garbage and then came back and won it with a true freshman QB, RB, and LT in the 2nd half.
Groundhog day....never goes away.
Them...NE....
Gets boring.

They just lost last year.

Cover 2. Safety just shit the bed. Tua said he looked him off, but there was no one in the general vicinity to "look him off" to. Safety has that deep half of the field and was in no man's land covering no one.
Add in the prices they paid to see it, too, oooff.
I'd rather lose by 50.

The thing about college football is that a program like Alabama basically has a whole 2nd team of studs sitting on the sidelines waiting to take over. Dalvin Tomlinson was a 2nd round pick and didn't start until he was a senior!
Fromm has a big future.
I was prepared to kill him for that, but it worked immediately.
He keeps pounding his critics into submission.
And now he may have a quarterback.
Going out on a limb. He’s a sure fire lock to be a top 15 pick according to every scout in the universe
Sure he can. He can transfer tall an FCS school and play right away, or he can transfer to another D1, but have to sit out a year. If he goes that route, after sitting out a year, he will still be a junior eligibility wise.
