Ive been hoping the Giants would scrap the WCO and go back to a Northeast style. Turners O really fits the bill. According to a breakdown on Vikings.com Turners offense features the following elements:
*High YPA.
*Size at WR - big physical Split End.
*A field-stretching TE.
*Physical Rushing Attack
*Shifty Scat-Back
If you look at his offenses he seems to want a great pocket passing QB, a stud RB, a physical mismatch Split End, a receiving TE & a power OL.
Not only a Northeast style O, but also seems to fit the Giants current personnel with Eli (and Webb), OBJ & Engram. Could play to Elis strengths. Look at the production he gets from his #1WR and TE. Josh Gordon put up 1,650 yards for him.
The mission for Gettleman would be getting a stud RB (Barkley?), a pain in the ass Scat-back and fixing the OL in free agency. Some of his key pieces are already in place and he may be able to get Chudzinski as a position coach too.
Turner also utilizes zone blocking, which makes it easier to find OL to fit that scheme. He makes perfect sense to accompany someone like Wilks.

They morph the offense to fit the strengths of their personnel rather than coming in with a locked system that requires something specific. It's a big part of why they've remained successful for so long.
A brilliant concept. Modify your scheme to fit your personnel. Unbelievable how complicated (Said with sarcasm).
LaConfora tweeted that DeFillippo and Turner were OC candidates if Wilks is hired (see "Wilks OC Candidates" thread).

Is it just BBI or has someone legit reported it?

I'd prefer DeFillippo. His concept going back to his Cleveland days was tailoring his offense to put the ball in his best players hands.
His scheme turned out to be a Gilbride/WCO hybrid kinda.

Amazing because I wanted him gone just as much as the next guy but I kinda miss the Gilbride O. A lot of big plays in the passing game and a power running game. 2013 was brutal but every other year the Giants had a good offense in that scheme.
Morgan or Scarnecchia or other.
+1. Both are terrible head coaches and fantastic coordinators.
Would love to see Norv as the OC.
And as for his age -- I didn't realize that 65 makes him too old to be an OC. By that logic Dick LeBeau shouldn't be coaching anymore either.

Do you even comprehend what is the topic of this thread, or are you that dense? It's about "TURNER's O" and what personnel it requires. Get it? Very few teams do it in the way the Patriots do. It's actually built into the system of terminology they use in NE. Go do some reading.
Monday afternoon at 3pm, open meetings critique the crap out of plans and everything and each other with an eye towards the next opponent.... not the last one.
Then each to his own office.
Monday evening at 9pm HC lays down exactly what he decides (based on the 3pm) and coordinators carry it out down to the player level exactly as ordered.
The 9pm is all business as the HC is now captain again. But having listened .

Bill B does that every year on both sides of ball. Most coaches IMO want to be married to their scheme rather adapt. It's arrogant. Like religious doctrine. Gotta be a WCO. Have to run a 4-3. The draft is a crap shoot most often. So best coaches should be focusing and using who
They you do have and how To best utilize the players that are on the roster and or healthy just seems to be common sense.
How Often did people say McAdoo's O was predicated on a mobile QB. Well that's the opposite of Eli. Then you add a putrid OL. Gee. Let's all
Wonder why the offense was a mess Some coaches just seem too wedded to their scheme and once a few players inevitably get hurt or miss on picks their teams struggle.
If Turner is zone and play action, zone and play action is also shanny roll outs and Atlanta 2016 or Seattle roll outs ...maybe.
Not sure how wedded Turner is or not to straight back 7 steps or what have you, only.
Get real. He's not a day over 175
This is per Ian Rapoport (and other Panthers beat reporters have picked up and confirmed).

When #Panthers coach Ron Rivera fired Mike Shula today, he had a target in mind: Long-time OC Norv Turner, who was out of football last year. Would be an upgrade if that comes together.

The #Panthers have a target for their new OC job: Norv Turner. Scott Turner, his son and a top QB coach, could return to Carolina, as well.
