Matt Patricia may wind up being the guy for the Giants, as @PatLeonardNYDN projects, but it’s not over yet.

Where Giants stand with coaching interviews over - ( New Window )
Sounds like Detroit gets our leftovers!
Or we get their leftovers.
Sounds like Detroit gets our leftovers!
I feel like the Giants served their fans leftovers for the past 5 years.

Not based on the way MG worded things.
Shurmur was a head coach with the Browns, and it is likely the Giants view him as a “tweener’’ — somewhere between a top-flight coordinator and a head coach.
With his ties to the organization I expect him to be targeted for either the OC or QB coach jobs.
If more of the "candidates", for any of these openings, were free to sign on (not in playoffs now) then the ones in the playoffs would be more inclined to decide sooner. But,. Patricia, McDaniels and Shurmur are in the playoffs still. They are their own competition. Each one seems to also be leading candidates for different jobs. If the Giants were blown away by Wilks it would be done already. No reason to wait and no reason to do further interviews. But, clearly they have guys who are in the playoffs still rated higher and are playing the waiting game with other teams.
I believe that's correct. Agents can discuss what a contract should look like and agree to terms but nothing can be signed or formally announced until that team's season is officially over.
And, the NFL frowns on teams making news that takes the spotlight away from playoff games. But if anything does happen, it always unofficially gets to the internet.
I wouldn't mind Patricia at all...
He just seems like a good fit.
