London Games Announced today 10.15 ET

Wish this wasn’t a thing anymore.

is the interest in these games over there mostly by ex-pats or are the natives into it as well?

has grown so much over the past decade, every single game always sells out over here and 90 percent of the games are terrible.

I think if any of you came over here for a game, you would be very surprised at its popularity over here and the knowledge of our fans. It seems the NFL can't really get much bigger in the States, but there is a fastly growing market over here

A UK betting site has The Eagles hosting the Jags on Sunday 23rd of September (2.30PM KO Local Time), be great if the Eagles gave up a home game

- Eagles vs Jaguars
- Seahawks vs Raiders
- Chargers vs Titans

the game grow over the pond. You see a lot of empty seats in US stadiums but these London games seems to be drawing well. I wonder how long until a team is relocated there or a super bowl is played there.

awesome experience, you are right about the crowd, everybody was in NFL garb. I went to the NFL experience in downtown London and it was packed as well. Got to see Osi and a few other players. However, I sat next to a nice chap from Ireland who didn't understand the game one bit and still had blast being there.

Never say never. London would likely be a lot more profitable for a team in a smaller market. And owners will follow the money. With some newer supersonic jets in development, the transport time could be cut significantly in 5-10 years.

is everyone over here already supports a team. No way would I give up on the Giants because there is a London franchise. I think the road team would always have more fans at games if we had a team. certainly for the first 5-10 seasons.

First of all, supporting a team. Showing up to a few games featuring a variety of teams a year is one thing. It's a big event that is attended by fans of all teams over there. Are they still going to be able to put a lot of butts in seats when it's the same team for 8 games a year?

Is London going to be able to attract free agents? I know a lot of people here thing "Well who wouldn't want to live in London?" but it's far from home and would pose a significant culture shock, particularly for players from rural small towns. There's also a significant tax burden.

And West Coast teams already bitch about the travel to the East Coast - how much are they going to bitch about transatlantic travel?

I went to both of these also. It was fun because I love London and this was a great excuse to go. You're right about the Europeans, they were there to see football not specifically the Giants/Rams. Lots of different jerseys, and lots of people from Europe not just London.

I agree with your other points, but I’m in the aviation industry and nobody seriously believes we will see a return to civilian supersonic flight in the 5 year timeframe, and even then, the tech under development won’t be for the mass market nor will it be for overland supersonic flying, which is the same thing that kept Concorde from growing beyond its niche.

The point is they're sending teams overseas to play in a country that finds the sport boring.

My understanding is that there is significant interest in gambling on the NFL within the UK.
There will never be a franchise but much like the EPL friendlies that are played across America, these games spur interest in the sport on TV and Paddypower. I don;t care but I see why owners do.

Which is stupid. Who do you think the Brits would rather watch? That would be like if the EPL sent over two teams to the United States and scheduled the game for 1 EST on a Sunday afternoon.

But it's not going away. Because the NFL is partnered in with one of the EPL teams new stadium. So, these games will continue in England for quite some time.

Tennessee Titans vs. Los Angeles Chargers, Wembley Stadium, Oct. 21 or 28.

None of these match-ups look interesting...

The Eagles vs the Jags doesn't look interesting?

Not in the least... Giants play the Eagles 2x during the season. Jacksonville is a team looking for an identity. That playoff game against Buffalo was an example of the duplicity of the Jaguars team... great or horrible.

...it is really a great and fun experience. The lack of rabid fans for specific teams mitigates the angry, violent asshole one typically encounters at an NFL game. Plus the after parties are phenomenal. As for a team in London, I was under the impression it would be more like 8 games per season there, similar to having a team but with the actual teams continuing to rotate. There has also been rumors of a game in Germany for years; that would be a must-see in my opinion.
