Hinges on the candidate actually being themselves and not trying to be BB 2.0
McDaniel's failed because he came in at 30 something years old and acted like he was BB.
I think either coach will be successful if they come in and win them over with their own unique personality. They need to gain trust in the team before they go full Bill.
He traded Cutler for a 1st and a 3rd, and benched pro bowler Brandon Marshall for disciplinary reasons. Looking back with hindsight these unpopular moves were probably the right call.
He got caught video taping a 49er practice. Wonder where he learned that?
He'd be kind of walking into a similar situation here. The ownership has set him up to take a beating if he decides to move on from fan favorite Eli. He'll also be handling a total diva WR in Odell, who just can't seem to get under control and cost the giant's penalties.
Would he put up with that after how he handled Marshall? Marshall was benched for being late to physical therapy, amongst other things of that nature, while Odell's problems only appear on the field. So they're not totally similar.
At the end of the day, talent wins. After trading Cutler, he was hitched to Kyle Orton. Not going to go far with him with any coach.
McDaniels has that smug demeanor that rubs everyone wrong with Belichick.
I would love to have McDaniels for how creative he is offensively but I think he might lose the team.
Patricia is a players coach and I think will turn this defense around quickly. My fear is building a staff
He's not afraid to make the big, unpopular move. Trading Cutler, benching Marshall, etc.
Giant's ownership caved and reversed the big move when faced with the media/fan backlash.

everywhere he goes.
There's an article out there that tries to fluff up McDaniels by saying he was constantly in the office working as the Rams OC while the rest of the staff went home or ignored their duties. You'd have been hard-pressed to find a person in that building who liked working with him.
The problem I have, based on current feedback, is that seeing him as a leader who gets respect would be a miracle.

but Haley seems to be despised, or at least deeply disliked

I agree with you. I didn't mean to imply that I thought McDaniels should be the guy. I do not want him at all. Just remembering stuff about Haley.
TUTE Sucks! 👍🤓
