Checking the mock drafts for NYG -

Del Shofner : 1/11/2018 3:49 pm
Just thought I'd see what the pundits are saying - here are a bunch, in alphabetical order. None of these factor in a trade down, that I can tell.

Bleacher Report: Darnold QB
CBS: Rosen QB
CBS Sports: Brown OT
CNN: Mayfield QB
Draftek: Barkley RB
NBC: Darnold QB
realgm: Rosen QB
sbnation: Rosen QB
SI: Barkley RB
USA Today: Darnold QB
Walter: Rosen QB

Assuming no trade down - anyone else who's a realistic possibility besides these 5 players?

BROWN
BleedBlue : 1/11/2018 3:53 pm : link
i would literally be disappointed....

good with barkley, darnold, rosen(i guess)

darnold, barkley or trade down for me lol
JOSH ALLEN
Elite Mobster #32 : 1/11/2018 3:57 pm : link
is PRO QB
I will curious on the medicals with Rosen
Rjanyg : 1/11/2018 3:58 pm : link
at the combine. Drafting him at 2 scares me with all the concussions. I like Darnold at 2 or maybe Barkley, otherwise a trade down to 4 would be my hope. Grab Minka, Chubb or Nelson.

I would hope that the only way Brown was the pick is if the Giants traded back and picked up a bunch of additional (premium) draft picks
I would expect...
hitchchops2 : 1/11/2018 4:13 pm : link
Allen and possibly Minkah to show up in some mocks...proving that on paper at least this is a horrible draft to be at the top. Still think it comes down to Rosen/Darnold though...
I wonder if Rosan backed out of the last couple games
Blue21 : 1/11/2018 4:25 pm : link
to purposely move up to avoid the Browns. Not saying he was completely healthy but wonder if avoided playing for that reason.

After throwing the remote when the Knicks drafted KP

I learned no reason to get worked up. Trust the process, wait two to three years and then you have a beef. Until then just enjoy the process.
If Brown becomes an All Pro

You won’t have a problem.

Brown may be an All Pro but it will be at the RT spot
He can’t play LT in the pros. Too slow
I do not see Mayfield as a possibility
twostepgiants : 1/11/2018 4:33 pm : link
He wont go out at 2. If Giants go QB they stay at 2

WISDOM!
No way Mayfield is the pick

At 2
Brown, Mayfield, and Barkley...

Are NOT worth the # 2 pick. Take a QB at that spot IF you believe they can become a franchise quarterback. If you don't think there is a franchise QB in this draft, trade down and take the BPA
Jerry Reese

Personally went to UCLA to look at Rosen
I am very close to the point
chopperhatch : 1/11/2018 5:50 pm : link
where I am saying "Darnold...if not, trade down and back to BPA." He is really the only QB I want, but I will wait until after the combine to say for sure.

I could be talked into Lamar Jackson, especially if he has a terrific combine. He reminds me SO SO much of Randall Cunningham, only faster, and that translates so well to today's offenses. The Vick comparisons I don't get so much. Vick was 6', Jackson is listed at 6'3" (Randall was 6'4"). Vick was also a lefty. Catching balls from a lefty is more difficult or at the very least different than from a righty...that's what I understand at least.

But we can trade down and get Jackson. If CLE takes Darnold, we can auction Rosen/Barley/Chubb off for a king's ransom (rape the Jets for their 2nd this year and 1st next year plus in order to swap picks this year, that's my policy) and either trade back a little more to take Jackson, or take that baby eating sunnuvabitch from ND, Nelson and then grab a guy like Rudolph or Falk in Round 2 to compete with Webby.
It's obvious that the probability
batman11 : 1/11/2018 5:55 pm : link
that any pro QB could be injured and not have an extended career is pretty high. If that's the case, the probabilty that someone with Rosen's injury history, and the fact that his father is a neurologist/spine surgeon, would not have an extended career would be a lot higher. IMO, this pick is too important to the franchise to select someone who you know going in is more susceptible to injury than other equally/closely rated players available. I would pass on Rosen, take the best player avaialable, or trade down for more picks. Lots of holes to fill aside from QB....
Mayfield will be a franchise QB
Giant John : 1/11/2018 7:22 pm : link
He would be my pick.

I've heard comments that Brown is a Flowers clone. Yikes!
All I can say is this.
DonnieD89 : 1/11/2018 8:01 pm : link
All I can say is this. Whomever the Giants select, this will tell us what direction they are going as a franchise. If they go quarterback, you’re looking at Eli leaving shortly. If they go running back, we know that Eli is staying and we are going to try to establish a running game with Oline adjustments coming through a combination of free agents and through the draft. Trading down would be the wildcard.
I am not on the Minkah bandwagon
Bluesbreaker : 1/12/2018 2:39 pm : link
he is no a free safety IMO .
Barkley or a trade down in the trenches Nelson Chubb .
Barkley will have an immediate impact on this offense in many ways . I don't like Rosen at all and Darnold doesn't knock me off my feet either . Could we get much more bang
for the buck in a trade down ?
