I've said this to Les and now I'll say it to you...

Please try not to speak...

Haha. Well I guess this season did seem like an eternity for Giants fans and it does seem like forever since they played GB.

in with the Eli crap here. Eli never effin makes the playoffs but let's get on Matt Ryan because his team lost a playoff game where Julio Jones fell down on 4th down. OK.

I'd love you to show me a Playoff game where Eli played like Ryan did today

Both playoff games vs Philly
His first playoff game vs Carolina
Never send the Falcons to do a man's job.

05 — first playoff game and the defense gave up like 250 yards rushing
06 — Eli had a way better game than Ryan today
08 — Eli’s number one receiver was Dominic Hixon, not Julio Jones
How does a Giants fan not know
Mr. Bungle : 1/13/2018 9:39 pm : link
that the Giants were in the playoffs last year?
As for the 4th and Goal
MBavaro : 1/13/2018 9:55 pm : link
I think this was supposed to go to #80 Toilolo. He engages the DE, then starts to break upfield. However, #53 Bradham comes flying in and blows Toilolo up.

It also looks like the center and left guard released and headed up field.

Only thing I can think of.

Eli as much as the next Giants fan. He's the best qb in Giants history. But for people to be on here pointing out Ryan's flaws while ignoring Eli's is just putting on rose colored glasses. The Giants haven't had a serious chance to compete for the NFC championship since 2012. Think about that. They haven't even been to the division round in 6 season. That's an eternity and a half in the NFL. I understand Eli isn't the entire reason for that. But he certiantly hasn't risen above his circumstances.

Case in point, the Giants have a 10 point lead on the Jets a couple of season ago. Coughlin elects to go for it on 4th down and trust his qb over his D. His qb proceeds to panic and throw an INT. Does a Brady or Brees do that, I don't know? To me it's just evidence that Eli hasn't risen above his circumstances over the past several seasons, despite putting up some nice numbers.

The crowd that wants to pass in a qb this year and go with Eli the next two years seems to be just delaying the inevitable and acquiescencing to more mediocre or worse football. That's why I'm all in on drafting one of the top 2 qbs and going for a rebuild. Maybe it works maybe it doesn't. But we're not being honest with ourselves if we think this is a team that's a piece or two away from a sb run.

Look at the resources committed to the Falcons offense in terms of draft picks, trades, and FA acquisitions since Ryan was selected.

Despite all of that “Matty Ice” comes up small in the biggest spots. Last year he ran like God and still couldn’t close the deal on a championship.
For a guy with the nickname Ice, he's developing a track record

Of playoff game ineptitude. The one year he looked like a star was a success everybody happily gave to their offensive coordinator.

I understand the criticism of Ryan. At least his team is in a position to compete. When was the last time the Giants were in that position? Losing 38-13 in Green Bay is not being competitive. Why not stat over? The pick is there, there are two potential qbs there, go for it!

“Being in a position to compete” is just a cocktease if you have a QB incapable of winning a big game.

When Ryan takes his team in the final 2 mins on his shoulders and wins two Super Bowls doing it against two of the best teams in the history of the NFL you can tell me all about it until then the Ryan argument is a complete fucking farce

I'm not arguing Eli's merits. He was able to accomplish something that no other qb has to date. But, how long are we all willing to live in the past? Is it such a bad thing to take a shot at a top young qb and try to duplicate the success of Eli and Co from 2005-2012? I'd rather say goodbye to him a year early then a year too late. This is a franchise that doesn't have an opportunity to draft top young qbs too often. And, they haven't exactly flopped on their last two true first round qb selections/acquisitions ( it may be selective, but I don't count Dave Brown in that, he was- for all intents and purposes- a second round selection to me).

Foles not really a backup.

Huge non-call on 4th and goal. If that was Eli to Beckham people would be blowing a gasket.
