I feel bad Lundqvist won't win here but it's not a talented team or well coached so it's a waste of my time
Kreider shouldn't kill a season but it's the excuse the rest of the roster has used to get its asses kicked consistently for almost two months now. I haven't liked the way this team has played since Detroit the day after thanksgiving
“They’re in a playoff spot as we do this in the wild card but got lit up by Mathew Barzal and the Islanders earlier today, I think the Rangers are starting to look and say are there other moves that we can make, similar to the one with Derek Stepan and Arizona at last year’s draft.”
“I think you are taking a look at their UFAs, Nash, Grabner, David Desharnais at center. But I think also some of their contracted players, Zuccarello, McDonagh, no guarantee they do it, but I think they are willing to listen.
So that's promising. Some shrewd trades and a new coach and they might be back in contention next season.
i looked less forward to a hockey game than tonight. I'm losing interest fast in this group. Philly is hot too... we'll see how this goes.
Putting things in perspective, a 10-year old kid on MSL's Connecticut Rough Riders hockey team died late on sunday. Had the flu over the weekend, but still wanted to attend his team's tournament in upstate NY over the holiday weekend, for whatever reason his parents pulled him out of the Buffalo hospital to drive home .. and he died on the car ride home. Doesnt get scarier or more tragic than that. RIP.
who's not a terrible player and filling in for Hayes. I'm probably alone in this, but I think Carey has gotten progressively better this year - considering he was a 29 year old with one career NHL goal... good find by Gorton.
Actually playing one of your most talented players Buchnevich on the top line is a good way to change things up. Why does his job have to be on the line like in the Vegas game for AV to start doing the logical thing?

We'll probably rattle off a 5 game win streak, he'll save his job, and then he'll start burying guys like Buch again and we'll go through yet another cycle where he's an ass hair away from losing his job.
This team is just stuck in the damn mud. I'd almost rather we just totally sucked than got trapped in this sort of good, sort of not territory.
geez, not me ... I want to enjoy some good hockey even if they Â
have established themselves as legit playoff teams - Tampa, Washington and Boston. Even within that group, Washington is just 18-14 in regulation.. which is the type of non-all star weekend gimmick hockey you have to win come May anyway.
Boston a few years ago I said I would love to do the quick rebuild they committed to... they missed what, two playoff seasons?
Grabner -dont do it by the pussy or you'll get #metoo'd - pots another one. He should return a nice haul at the deadline if we cant improve.

It’s an interesting point. On the one hand, it gives me pause that maybe you stay the course and take an honest roll of the dice heading into the playoffs with only 1 or 2 real stud teams in the EC. On the other hand, with such parity, maybe it’s a heck of a seller’s market at the deadline...
Well, it would be a good year to be awful.. Dahlin looks like the next Karlsson.
Dahlin just assigned to the Swedish Olympic team. Maybe the only reason to watch the hockey olympics. He'll be playing against much older players as a 17-year old.
Dahlin is bigger than Karlsson (and probably still growing), and I'm not sure he's as good a skater, but he's a far better 1st round prospect than either Patrick or Hischier IMO
Yeah he looks like the real deal. I watched a clip of him the other day where he basically juked a defenseman out of his skates with the puck. The guy literally fell down in front of him. He looks like a truly special prospect.
like Carolina doesnt get him... and you know, the teams that actually suck land him.. i guess we can live with it.
If Buffalo gets him... that'd be one hell of a nucleus. I still cant figure out why their record is so bad - we all watched the Winter Classic... there's significant talent on that team.

goalie is awful. Lehner has always been an up-and-coming goalie as long as I can remember. He's got good size, but is not an NHL starting goalie IMO.
Plus, Housley first time HC so he's still figuring things out, and they have no depth.
Some good young players though including two stars from the world juniors this year.
Reeves drills Staal. Good hit. Clean hit.
Smith Buries Reeves. Good hit. Clean hit.
Oleksiak drops the gloves with Smith.
anyway, Shattenkirk with TO in the defensive zone, now two quick Penguins goals.
10 games without a regulation win and looking like that will extend tonight

This team is baffling.

We have this same conversation every year.
"We're flawed, but there's only a couple of teams in the East that are markedly better - get hot in the playoffs and you never know.... "
But it ain't working.
I think we'd be wise to sell if the market dictates and will net us some good return on the few moveable assets we have.
