He did not have the total amount of experience needed and did not have a track record nearly as impressive as the three finalist we are hearing about. I don't know why Mara moved so fast to promote McAdoo. He should have allowed the Eagles to hire him, and then they would be the screwed up team in our division..or maybe Mack would have thrived with Carson Wentz.....who knows? But the front office is taking a different approach THIS TIME because we have a GM with balls THIS TIME. From what I read, Reese was against the hire of Mack.but did not press the issue in order to keep Mara happy. Now Mara will let DG make the football decision among the candidates which was obviously a condition that DG wanted before he accepted the GM job.
Big Mac and Patricia are two completely different personalities Â
Plus Patricia has been much more successful. Its always a risk promoting a coordinator, some work (like McVay) some don't (like Mac), but this guys at least has the success. Big Mac was an awful hire, but we shouldn't let that get in the way of finding the next McVay.

Mac was never a coordinator.

At least now. Heaf Coach and coordinators are different jobs -,different skills are required. Lots of great coordinators suck at being head coaches. Look up Bill Arnsbarger in Giants history. And personally I think McAdoo’s biggest mistake was calling the plays. He needed to spend time managing the whole team. I’m hoping whoever they hire does a better job of managing the coaching staff and the players.
Those opposed to taking a quarterback in the first round:
"There are no guarantees, what if you pick Ryan Leaf"
What is remarkable to me is they never seem to consider there have been "Ryan Leafs" picked at every position at the top of the draft.
You make the move you feel is the best for your team and hope you re correct.
Because there are no guarantees.
I suppose the OP is referring to Patricia. Ok, are you suggesting they don t select this success defensive coach because he might pick a bad coaching staff?
Which candidates out there do you not share this concern about.

Who is "Mack"? And please use line breaks. There are probably decent points within your unreadable walls of text.

Were you asleep through 2014-15 when he was the Giants' OC? Obviously, the context is about hiring a HC, so McAdoo absolutely was a coordinator prior to that.
Slow hand clap.....
He was OC for one year and we were in the top 10. Not enough to evaluate his ability to be a HC IMHO. We panicked when Eagles were interested in him.

Two years.
