Rewind it if you can. After the 3rd and goal incomplete pass, the officials actually moved the ball back almost a full yard for 4th and goal. That was about to screw the Jags but they scored anyway

Yeah but just before the camera moved to behind the QB they showed the ump moving the ball back to the original spot at the 1.5
At least based on 5 quarters this year. Seems like Jax comes to play one of those classic Ravens-Steelers duels but Pitt has evolved from the bully they once were and Jax is pushing them around. This aint the Steelers game anymore
In the regular season. I bet and lost money on it, lol. Took a big hit too, I think money line was -440 or something. Ive never seen Ben look so helpless and deflated. At least some of that has to carry over mentally to today
With TC and Marrone, JAX will become a force in the NFL, and maybe this year. I cant stand that our ownership went with that fucking idiot McCadoo when Marrone was available. Should have kicked TC upstairs and hired Marrone
C'mon, people dive at the goal line and if the ball passes over the goal line even if out of bounds it is a TD and has been ruled that way consistently for years. But he was clearly in bounds
Get their asses kicked.
I prefer NE does it since they cry all year on how they cheated.

In the playoffs? Theres a long way to go but weve seen a lot of Steeler home playoff games over the years and nothing comes to mind like what this has looked like

SomeFan, you have it half right: Fire Reese, kick TC upstairs to position has now, and hire Marrone. Many of us argued back at end of 2015 season that it should have been Reese out.

Clarify for me. If the ball is stretched out over the goal line outside the pylon it is a TD, so long as feet are in bounds? So breaking the plane extends into oob area so long as player is in bounds?
$100 that Jacksonville would win $100 Leonard fournette would have over 80 yards rushing and $10 on a lightning bet for every yard he goes over or under that 80 today could end up being a very good day

With Eli I think theyd win multiple SBs over the next 5 years.
Its going to be tough for anyone to take down the Pats in the AFC because the QB play in the AFC is hot garbage. Eli would be the perfect addition in JAX gives them a playoff proven QB capable of beating Brady on the road.

Huh? So Eli can now play 5 years of good football? And what happens when Jacksonville starts paying for these young guys?

eli has been mediocre for 5yrs,take the blue colored glasses off any try to pay attention.
but after that came a stupid kickoff and then a secondary allowing he top to get blown off when their job was not not get beat deep.
The penalty didnt give them points, 2 really bad plays did.
The penalty is what allowed them to get into position for two dumb plays to have an effect. Starting at the 35 vs the fifty would have changed the whole strategy with that little time left
Over and over on this board get credit for the Jags success over Coach Marone.
How does that happen exactly.
He hired Marrone, he conducted the Jags draft that brought them Fournette and Robinson, let other guys go, signed some free agents. First time since the merger in 1970 that a team went from 3 wins to the playoffs in one season. The Major is going to be Executive of the Year and is now a certain lock for the HOF. Did you think Marrone just stepped into the same 3-13 team from last season?
Hey, look it's fine to take a position and be wrong. It's not fine to continue to cling to that position when there is overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

I think he could with that defense and running game.
As far as paying their guys, it wont matter if they keep drafting well.

Of course, but wheres the cutoff? Its a team game and after that penalty 2 units failed to do their job, jobs that are fairly routine (especially he kickoff) despite the bad field position.

Agree that was the question but maybe his point is that TC deserves more of the credit.
Knocking Coughlin. Just giving Marone some of the credit.
I understand what Coughlin did for the Giants. I understand he is a great football guy. I also understand he was not the entire problem for his last three seasons with the Giants, but he was part of the problem
How do officials call that a penalty? Ramsey was pushed by a Steeler!
I could be wrong but I think they called it on what he did after the play to Shuster for pushing him. Looked like a slap. It was called unsportsmanlike conduct and not a late hit so I don't think it was for the late hit on Bell/ push by Shuster out of bounds. Announcers just kind of washed over the call and never went into it.

We can table the Coughlin/Giants debate for another day. And yes, Marrone gets credit too, no doubt.
Ive always been a big Coughlin fan and usually quick with the knee jerk reaction to defend him, fully admit to my bias

You're flat out fucking lying again. Coughlin never hired Marrone, they were both hired on the same day.
Big Ben has the best RB in football, the best WR in football
Has serious roots in Jacksonville. He helped design the stadium, locker rooms, and original uniforms. If you do not think he had any input regardless of the air date factor your not realizing his connections.
RE: RE: Big Ben has the best RB in football, the best WR in football
If Steelers win the game it will come back to the misconduct penalty by Smith
Really? How is that? Did Smith miss stopping a 4th and 11?
Did Smith forget to drop into coverage on a 50 yard bomb?
Youre a freaking idiot section. The whole game changed on that misconduct penslty
Id actually argue it change on that putrid kickoff. He intentionally kicked it short for some odd reason. Like all the announcers said. He has plenty of leg.
Seems like theres a dispute re: whos responsible for the turnaround in JAX. Heres a list of players acquired since Coughlin has been hired:
Fournette
Robinson
Cole
Westbrook
Jackson
Dareus
Campbell
Jack
Ngakoue
Bouye
Ramsey
Church
Gipson
I think really less of a dispute and more a couple posters pointing out Marrone should get his fair share of the credit. I for one reacted too harshly to the question, as Im prone to do bc I like Coughlin a lot and misread the point being made

Hope he can buy a ticket on the nfl ticket exchange after todays game.
Hes overrated.
How you feeling about that judgement now?
Hes still overrated. What magical coaching decisions has he made today?
it isnt always about changing philosophy! It sometimes you have to awaken the energy in your team. Sometimes you have to get their minds refocused. Sometimes guys start worrying about too many things on the field and as a coach you have recenter your team. Thats leadership. Talk TOO then not AT them.
Coaches who are very intelligent are great. They can think up a lot of things. Find unique ways out of a situation. Invent something so simple yet effective. Having a smart person as a coordinator is great. Its perfect. They design schemes and formations and implement them. They duel minds on sundays. Head Coaches have to be great leaders of men. They have to keep the energy of the team in check. They have to understand the entire flow of a game. Their senses have to be on an ENTIRE group of men. Not one side or another. Tomlin is great at that. Thats why his Steelers teams are as good as they are and they make the plays they do. They play ALL OUT. Their passion is can go through the roof. Players love playing for him.
The Giants have better skill position players than Jax
Except at RB. If we can fit the O Line and get a good RB in the draft I can see a turn around this season.
The draft brought Fournette and Cam Robinson and they have had a huge impact on the Jax offense. Bottles is a bad QB. The run game is the key to their success.
Gettlemen can learn a lot by watching this game. Barkley in round 1. Bring in some solid guards, Price in round 2.

explosions this year. 30-plus 7 times. 40-plus 3 times (incl today). Kind of hard to square with "Bortles sucks" but I still kinda think Bortles sucks.
draws the anti-Eli trolls. Or Big Ben chucking up a couple 4th down prayers that are caught by 1st ballot hall of famer Antonio Brown somehow provides evidence that Eli sucks.
is like watching NE.
Twice as painful when they are losing; you just know they'll either makes a great play, get fortunate bounce, get a crazy call, or some bizarreness that turns things around.

That sounds all warm and fuzzy, but they just got beat at home by Blake Bortles. Again.
Any sharp coach wouldve went into this game taking away the run and made Bortles beat them. Fournette just lit them up for 100 and 3 scores and the backup even had a TD.
Amateurish game plan from a coach many assume is a top 5 coach in the league.
how about popping it in the air and hoping your guy catches it and runs it in - I mean try something - they might have well as just run into the locker room after the TD.
Get that 3 and out on the other side of the field and they have a chance to tie right now
Absolutely the right way to go
What did you see in this game that would make you think they could get a 3 and out? Their defense was horrendous all game long. THAT's why they had to attempt the onside kick... they needed to give themselves every opportunity to get the ball back. Heck, even on that FG drive they allowed 9 and a half yards.

I think it's a pretty safe assumption they would have been ultra conservative, punted, and trusted their defense IMO.
Putting the ball in the air w/ Bortles...not sure even JAX trusts him in that spot lol

Heck, I don't even think they could've stopped 3 dives from getting 10 yards. I agree that in a normal situation, you kick deep and trust your defense. Today wasn't a normal situation with the Steelers' defense. They were pathetic.
And Pitt will get stomped again.
I honestly dont think I'm going to watch that one next week, whether it's Pitt or Jax.
I've seen that movie way too many times, it's just not interesting anymore.
Part of why Bell is making it known that he wants a contract.
So far so good for Jax.

Oops, you're right. That was pretty dumb of me. Actually a few of the OL guys from this draft started this year.
In playoffs the league gets cold feet on that type of call. Much like NCAA being less likely to call targeting in Bowl games
Still early tho
Add in that Antonio Brown isnt close to a hundred percent, the Jags can shut down Bell. Ben and Haley apparently at each others throats again.
I dont believe in Tomlin as a head coach who can make the adjustments and deal with adversity.
Reese watched Jacks INT and said, hes no Jonathan Casillas.
Yep, he dropped to the top pick in Rd 2. He was one of the guys who got "over analyzed" in the draft process. Every year there are a couple.
Fuck Jacksonville
Up 14-0. LOL. Better have a big bandwagon.
Yes
I'd love to see them somehow someway beat the Pats in the AFC Championship game

I disagree. He luckboxed into an organization thats arguably the best drafting team over the last 20 years and inherited a franchise QB in his prime.
If he went to Buffalo back then instead of Pitt, hed be lucky to be coaching DBs somewhere now.

Maybe...Pittsburgh was dead going into halftime without a TD
It makes me sad to see Bronx-born Doug Marrone coaching the Jags instead of being TCs successor here
They are winning 28-14 in Pittsburgh so there is that tiny fact and with Blake Bortles.
What part was clutch? The sack fumble at midfield, or the interception?
As a Giants fan who hasnt seen an All-Pro LB since Jesse Armstead, Id gladly trade random moronic behavior for an All-Pro.
Should have let Jerry Reach and MacHandley go and kept
a great football mind .

Personally I liked the interception on his own 20 the best.
The penalty didnt give them points, 2 really bad plays did.
How does that happen exactly.

Huh? So Eli can now play 5 years of good football? And what happens when Jacksonville starts paying for these young guys?
They have an excellent secondary.

Know the achilles heel of jax defense is the secondary
Ramsey might be the bext CB in teh game.
I think the vacuum people live in is a Dyson. Because it sucks hard
The penalty didnt give them points, 2 really bad plays did.
The penalty is what allowed them to get into position for two dumb plays to have an effect. Starting at the 35 vs the fifty would have changed the whole strategy with that little time left
How does that happen exactly.

How do officials call that a penalty? Ramsey was pushed by a Steeler!
"Smart play by Smith-Schuster".
What if the flag was on him? He'd claim it was a stupid play.
These announcers blow badly

Yep. But ratings are already down no matter who plays. Would probably be worse with JAX in there and not PITT.

Now we find out who Bortles is and whether he wants to be something more.

I fear he will want to be something more when the gun sounds but lets see what happens.
I understand what Coughlin did for the Giants. I understand he is a great football guy. I also understand he was not the entire problem for his last three seasons with the Giants, but he was part of the problem
It was time to move on
How do officials call that a penalty?

To whats actually happening behind the scenes just shows ignorance . Jags trying to establish the run just what the
Stellers expect
when he gets going he's unstoppable
Here come the Steelers. Another great TD throw by Roethlisberger.

You're flat out fucking lying again. Coughlin never hired Marrone, they were both hired on the same day.

Steelers and Cowboys are allowed to hold
Brown has been impressive. His two TD catches while blanketed have kept this from turning into a blowout.

Twice as painful when they are losing; you just know they'll either makes a great play, get fortunate bounce, get a crazy call, or some bizarreness that turns things around.

it isnt always about changing philosophy!
Absolutely the right way to go
He always makes bizarre decisions.
