I find it obnoxious. It's one thing to ask for it if you've
Been a successful head coach, but I don't know who
Some of these coaches think they are. The guy can coach
But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Thoughts on this?
Used to say if you want me to make dinner, I should at least get to pick the groceries.....he should have some say but total control ain’t never happenin in ny
I keep seeing this on BBI but I haven’t seen what sources are putting this out there. Has McDaniels said this? Maybe I’ve missed the threads providing sources? I’m not saying this isn’t true but are we sure that this isn’t BBI just doing its thing and going bananas over something that may be completely untrue?
Not disputing it, just not sure if it’s known or conjecture at this point
And I agree, pretty aggressive if he is. Hardly any coaches in football have grounds to demand that level of power, and certainly not McDaniels at this point of his career

There's attributable to McDaniels saying it, just a few sports writers making an assumption.

left out "nothing" attributable to McDaniels saying anything about seeking significant input. Every coach is going to want some input obviously in shaping their rosters.
This is pure speculation at this point based on what he had in Denver and what his mentor has in NE. Now, maybe he is asking for some roster control, but it's far from a certainty.

Again, my understanding is that Indy is offering more of a share than NYG would be. As far as the percentage, I don't know

There are different aspects of roster control. I don't know what Indy may have offered, or will offer, or how their power structure with Ballard will work re: roster.
A lot of speculation why McDaniels would go Indy over NYG, just passing along what I've heard.

If Josh McDaniels ends up in Indianapolis, hearing one of the tipping points will be roster control. He would not be getting the same kind of authority with Giants he is expected to get from Colts.
The GM with roster control and the coach having to coach the players given to him seems like a flawed model to me. Even with promised input. Why hope for alignment when you can be certain the players chosen make sense for the roster and the scheme the coach is looking for.
Take the named people out of the equation, ignore makes more sense to have one decision maker.
Get a GM to do the cap and the contracts, get a coach to pick who you draft, want in free agency and on the roster. At least there is no politics and no excuses that other did not do their part.
From the team’s inception Coughlin had complete control of their operation. He even designed the uniforms & ensignia . Coughlin did have a cap analyst who helped him play it fast and aggressively . In some instances , he overpaid fading talents like Bryce Paup and Kyle Brady , but Coughlin answered to no one.
that when you interview for a job you don't ask for more than you are willing to settle for? More money? More vacation time? Some of you people really need to think about things before you get irate and start posting idiotic nonsense.
understand wanting input but he's making a mistake here. It's not as if the Pats minus BB and Brady are going to be such an appealing team to coach (if that's his plan). I'm not saying there there aren't potential superior openings in the future but his resume does not = full roster control.
Why. Chris Ballard is new there don't see him giving up significant control.
I prefer a HC with a defense backround ,but yeah this would be a nice combo

Fair point.

Starting to see some egos with Pats assistants in my opinion
Agreed.

Don't you think any HC would want some input in their roster development?

Input - of course?! Every coach should have input , but control?
That's ridiculous

That's where I think there's a lot of speculation going on between input and control. No one knows for sure at this point.

Where in those tweets does it say anything about “control”? And where does it say he’s asking for “control”?
Aren’t those tweets just basically saying that the Colts may be willing to give him more input?
Yup. Belichick and Parcells didn’t get front office power until they had both notched a couple Super Bowls as HCs.

Hey, Hue Jackson had front office power with the Raiders for a half season.

The proverbial one ringable neck.
False on all three.
If true, he's eliminated.
Scott Pioli split the GM duties with Belichick during most of the 2000's
Andy Reid got control of the personnel side in 2001, but was hired in 1999
However, Coughlin largely had GM responsibilities in JAX along with being the HC, IIRC
