We have our new HC. Do not know who yet. I know its not exactly groundbreaking information but i figured i would share...my assumption is its Wilks, but that is a guess. Either way, we apparently have our new coach.
This game just in case Minnesota loses. If Shurmur was number 2 and you had McDaniels number 1 then if Minnesota loses you have to make up your mind if you want to risk losing Shurmur for the chance at McDaniels. So, now that McDaniels is locked up (assumin it is McDaniels) it puts the Giants in a better position.
The more important reason for hiring a HC ASAP is filling out the coaching staff. If they had to wait until after the SB they could miss out on several of their targets.
RE: RE: Well it looks like Shurmur maybe free on Monday given the NO score Â
Not one defensive coach from the team in 2017 has left. Maybe the agreement all along has been to keep Spags and his staff and revamp the offense totally.

Shurmur not high on the list for the Cards. Says it wouldn't be a good fit. Speculated that Munchak or James Bettcher would be more likely.
Also thought Shurmur makes much more sense for the Giants.
...have sources no other reporter has...not expecting anything official, but a rumor coming from somewhere else seems reasonable, no?
Not really. hitdog42 has been a good source. Eric has sources that email him privately. He said he had the same info from 2 sources, one he knew and another he didn't. If you read the thread thoroughly it's pointing to McDaniels. Just because the beat writers don't have a clue doesn't mean that others on the board don't.

Nothing "official" is allowed so that's a pointless to look for until any coaches in playoffs are finished. But the Ian Rapport, Adam Schefter types getting wind of it would be nice.

Eric has contacts, hitdog42 and JonC have contacts. If those three all agree on something, you have a pretty good chance that what they say is correct.
If you notice, none have come out directly as said so, but it is inferred/hinted. Each has to protect their contact and cannot confirm until the word comes out officially.
Throw for 3,800+ yards in year one with not much talent on offense outside of Brandon Marshall... got fired in year 2 because the team struggled on top of him trying to trade Jay Cutler to New England for Matt Cassell and they didn't like that he benched Brandon Marshall for disciplinary reasons.
How come no one on BBI remembers his legacy in Denver.
Are you really going to trust the guy who used the 25th pick in the draft (that he traded up to get) on Tim Tebow with our future franchise QB?
Like you, they choose to remember only the parts that support their argument. You don't want him to be our coach, so you concentrate only on the negative aspects. All of these guys have some good and some bad things in their past.

Reporters have sources too, but they can’t publish every rumor they hear, they do try to verify from multiple sources before publishing (something I’m sure the beats are working on right now). Part of what makes internet chatter fun
Someone posts inside info and rumors here, they risk getting flamed by a bunch of anonymous fellow fans.
A reporter posts rumors, they risk losing access to the teams they cover...which is a career risk for them
Some of them still do post rumors in the ongoing game to one up each other...and look pretty bad if/when they’re proven wrong

While that’s a valid point he’s not going to be the GM.
that LB corps has been the highlight of their defense for years. Their Line had a good year this year but they’ve dealt with massive LB injuries over the years and still make it work.
No idea about the lack of advancement so I can’t speak to that. But there’s probably no better facility in the nfl and maybe the perks have just been really good over the years working in Dallas.
how long will he have to suffer the Tebow pick? It was a long fucking time ago and he’s admitted previous mistakes. Should he never coach again because of it? What about all the good he’s done?

Wow what a comeback. I would prefer Shurmur between the two especially if he can lure George Edwards to NY also.

Maybe I spoke to quickly if the Vikings can get in FG range.
Pat Graham left
Wrong

Maybe he’ll push to trade Eli Apple
Brees deserved better.
He's been a defensive coordinator before.
He's been a defensive coordinator before.
God I hope you're wrong. Gray was not a good DC.
Hope not.

Even if not Giants, AZ is a done deal.
And I'm curious why Dan Campbell with Saints isn't a head coaching candidate.
I second this

Officially, if it's Patricia, McDaniels or Shurmur I guess the earliest you'll hear anything official is when they're teams are eliminated.
Joey,
I'm waiting for you to bust one of these out
Not at all. Pats and Vikes are still in it.
Also thought Shurmur makes much more sense for the Giants.
But it still could be shurmur? I’m fine with either just seems like we will never find out at this rate.
You have to ask yourself how much better McD as HC with Spags defense would be than the failure that was Spags HC with McD O.

Don't think Hitdog has ever been wrong

Don’t know him but the cowboy linebackers are usually good. What’s wrong with him?
Why, their LB unit is arguably the best unit on the team other than the OL.

Their DL is better.
He’s been a LB coach for some 10 years with the Browns and the Cowboys. Hasn’t advanced or stood out.
Just a few alterations here and there

McD will want his own DC. I don't see Spags returning given the house cleaning we've just seen.
The perfect candidate doesn’t exist.

Also maybe we could have good Linebackers again!!
