My wife has been talking about peloton a lot so I was thinking about getting her a spin bike and using the peloton app since I don’t want to drop 2k on something she may never actually use. Problem is I literally have no idea what to look for in these things. Anyone have any recommendations for what would be a good starter bike that is comparable with peloton? Not looking to spend more than 500 if I can avoid it.
So many gyms are open 24 7, a spinner glass vs laying out huge coin might be the better choice.
I like it because:
1) It has a belt drive which requires no maintenance and is very quiet
2) It has magnetic brakes which also are very quiet. This bike is much quieter than the standard cycle fitness bike in my experience
3) It has water bottle holders built into the handlebars so you don't have to reach down for them
4) It has a small electronic display which shows the rpm which is very useful (It does not display the amount of tension unfortunately)
5) It has a very heavy flywheel and is built very well without cheap materials as far as I can tell
6) It has a small footprint (ie it doesnt take up much space)
I dont have any apple products so I cant use the Peleton app. Instead, I use Studio Sweat on Demand, which is available on Android, PC, and Roku. I have a Roku streaming stick hooked up to my tv and I use that to cycle with the videos.
Hope this helps!
