Has home team ever hosted a superbowl?

yankeeslover : 1/14/2018 9:00 pm
or will this be the 1st time if Minny wins next week? Also, being that this would be Vikings home field, do teams still get 50/50 split on tickets? Not sure how tickets work for a superbowl.. Will Vikings have clear home field advantage as far as fans?
Tickets would still be split

but you’d have to imagine Vikings fans will flock to buy up as many resell tickets as possible
No team has have hosted the Super Bowl and played in it

the Giants 2013 season was completely screwed up because they tried to be the first when their window had closed in 2012 and put off a needed rebuild.
No team has ever played a Super Bowl in its own stadium.

I believe the 49ers were close in 1984 when they hosted the Dolphins, but that game was at Stanford Stadium.
In 1979

The rams and Steelers played in Pasadena. I think that qualifies. Also The Niners in 1984 in Palo Alto over Miami qualifies.
They said during the game

that 8 cities have hosted a Superbowl in what would have been their home team's stadium, but none had made it to the show.

Doesn't qualify at all. The Rams played in the LA Coliseum until 1979. The 9ers played at candlestick.

No team has ever played in a SB in their home stadium.

I'd argue the Giants are still paying for that.
I fucked up.

Had a chance to buy two tickets from a guy I know who won them at the Hard Rock Casino in a drawing. 3 nights at the Mystic Lake Casino, two club seats with pregame meal and drinks. He first hit me up for $7500 for them and then came back 2 weeks later at $4500. I said give me this weekend to think about it and someone else snagged them from him yesterday. I could have gotten 8K for those after today

you had a much better day than Marcus Williams.
The home stadium thing seems like a bit of a technicality to me.

Yes, the Rams and Niners weren't playing in their own buildings, but the real advantages of having a home game were pretty much in place for them in those games. Not having to travel, their fans not having to travel and being more able to spend for tickets. Obviously it's not a home game in terms of ticket sales. but they had pretty much the same home field benefit the Vikings would have if they advance this year.
We were so close in 2013

The advantages
Fred-in-Florida : 1/15/2018 6:25 am : link
for the home team, in this case the Vikings, would be being familiar with the surroundings. Own locker room staying in your own home.etc.

The majority of tickets goes to NFL. Each team playing in the game gets x amount (10,000 ?) tickets. And the hosting team gets another 10,000. So that's the advantage in game tickets. That's an estimate of about 30,000. The remainder the NFL sells to their Corporate sponsors.

Then as said above the home fans would probably jump on the available tickets. Their wouldn't be any other expenses such as Travel, Lodging and food. But then that might drive the price of the tickets up because there aren't any other expenses.
