@AlbertBreer
Per sources, Lions have informed other candidates they’ve been eliminated from the search, moving forward with the expectation Matt Patricia will be their head coach when the Patriots season ends. So that job is officially off the board.

This almost, ALMOST makes the impending distaster hire of McDaniels worthwhile in the end.
CHI - Nagy
DET - Patricia
NYG - McDaniels
ARI - Shurmur?
IND - Vrabel?
If it came down to him just wanting to work with a GM he has worked for and knows well not really much the Giants can do about that, guy doesn't seem to be motivated by money based on his life story...and we still don't know for sure that he was the #1 choice all along.
I was too until it was pointed out in another thread his defense was the only defense in the league worse than ours.
In the past, it's been reported as interest. But not tonight.
Patricia -- who the hell can know? Let DET test him out. (Although, I don't think anyone can succeed there either.)
And then McDaniels met Jim Irsay. End of story
My feelings too.
At first I was all about McDaniels, but after learning and reading much more about Patricia after discovering he was a candidate, I think he has what it takes to be great.
So MP became my 1a to JM as 1b. So i’m a little disappointed to learn he is likely going to Detroit, but will really be devastated to miss out on both NE guys.
C'mon, dude. You know that's not the BBI way. The mouth-breathers have to have something to complain abut.

I think this guy has the “it” factor and the smarts to be one of the greats. Highly disappointed the giants couldn’t get it done.

Exactly, at the end of the day it’s his choice not ours.
he didnt make the varsity
I get the feeling, though, from reading the asshat thread, that the Giants already had their guy (an agreement) before the news started surfacing about Patricia. i.e., no spurning involved.
Am I wrong?

Remember when Spags had the "it" factor?

I think you may be correct. I can't wait to see how he tries to backtrack when the news comes out re: our hiring JM. Leonard is an idiot.

His headline has some accuracy to it though... The Giants have indeed fallen far.
Leonard is just a douche. In fact, most of the NY media is douche-y. (It's the kind of column you'd never see in New England ever, no matter how badly a team is playing.)
I don't agree w/what Pat has written but I do sympathize with these young men who made sports writing their aspiration. The only way to survive since the physical newspaper is in decline,is to write articles that create click bait online. His job isn't to be liked but to have people read his piece. And,since we at BBI have the "scoop" on the HC position,we can read it knowing that he will be writing a mea culpa!
