well if the market dictates he can be had far below the expected numbers so be it. But giving him a huge extension because you are scared he walks would be franchise crippling at this point
extend Kanter (shop him), try and get value for Lee/KOQ, play Dotson and Willy more
Works for me. I'd only keep Kanter on a ridiculously affordable vet deal. Probably not happening although I guess it's possible when you factor in Kanter's affinity for the NYC area. But even then, we are probably better off moving him.
Perry makes moves aimed at saving 2018 I will be sick. I hope he's not that dumb/isn't pressured into such things.
I really don't think he will make moves for the now. Perry's body language since coming here has indicated a pragmatic long term approach to things. Even if you want to get on him for trading melo for now parts that was the only trade available that didn't completely suck.
I think perry starts dealing pieces away once the Knicks bottom out later this month. It's only a matter of time. They won't be close to a playoff spot for much longer.

My concern is more about Dolan/Mills and MSG never seemingly being open to tearing things down vs. Perry being a moron.
If you can somehow get in position to draft Trae Young
you have to do it...he's almost scarily like Steph Curry. Frank will be a good PG but Trae Young might be the best PG in the league when Curry, Russ, etc. age out
In theory yes. But right now only 31% from 3. My point was more... you take the best player when you pick. Frank is not a "special" talent you avoid impacting.
more than fair to critique KP (for various things) but his PG play is well below average and the talent level is really poor around him. Even "good" players like Kanter have very significant flaws. ThJr might end up being a good signing after all but when he's your #2 player sight unseen it's not a good sign.

Yeah they always seem to deal from a position of weakness or desperation. It's a viscious cycle that won't break until the Knicks sit on their hands and let this thing grow organically, even if it's a painfully long process. I would move young assets or resources if the player was too good to pass up but only if it's a transcendent player or draft pick. One of the reasons why I don't hate the Noah contract (it sucks I know) is because the cap limitations will prevent the Knicks from signing a now player that hurts the long term model. When Noah comes off the books the Knicks will be closer to being ready to make a move for the moment, so to speak. Of course I'd rather Noah and his contract be gone, but it is what it is...
Frankie smokes has a chance to be a good player but as mentioned the Knicks need to add more guard talent no matter what frank does here the next season or two.
don't want to hear it as the ultimate outcome but a team with KP with a normal roster around him should be a perennial top 5 seed and that's not even a "good" roster around him. That's how poor the talent is/the fits are.
Jarret Jack in the John Wall/Russell Westbrook role
the Knicks from properly rebuilding, would any of you guys consider looking for a blockbuster trade? For example, what if the Knicks could get the 1st or 2nd pick in the upcoming draft and 2 or 3 additional picks or young talented players along with it, would anybody pull the trigger?
To me, KP seems to have been poisoned by Melo, is playing out of position, lacks perimeter defense, takes too many bad shots, lacks stamina and has injury concerns. I personally would prefer KP to stay on the Knicks and continue to improve, but only if he buys into the complete rebuild that most here are suggesting.
how the Knicks currently use him. Obviously, many teams in the league have smaller line-ups and shoot more threes. When KP is on the floor with another big like Kanter or O'Quinn, which seems to be most of the time, against smaller teams he needs to defend the perimeter. The way I see it, a big reason why other teams have so many wide open threes against the Knicks is because neither KP or Kanter get out to the 3pt line in time on rotations. If the Knicks played KP more with Beasley instead of Kanter or O'Quinn, I agree that his perimeter defense would be less of an issue. That's my opinion at least.
I don't think Hornacek is the next big thing. But I'd like to see some consistency with coaching. How many coaches are we gonna go through?
You need the players. Get the players, and the coach will succeed.
So good coaches dont matter? False.
It's irrelevant what Phil did or any other exec before him. Those are sunk costs. Perry had nothing to do with Hornacek. If Perry wants his own guy, he should get it, not keep a bad coach on because we have had too many coaches recently.
KP was efficient and played significant time at the 5. Frank played one of his best games of the season. It was good to see Burke show some promise. Now lets see if they can do that against a team that's better than the Nets.
1) Beasely is getting some of Kanter's minutes when KP plays center. IMO, Kanter is an overrated player.
2) Jack may see his minutes gradually diminish in favor of Frank and Burke.
Frank Ntilikina is the first Knicks rookie to tally at least 10 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 blocks in the same game since 1964
Doesn't say who that was but I'd guess Howard Komives. Man, it makes me feel old just saying that ... But the stat is wrong - Frank had 10-7-10 today, not 10-10-7.

You're the worst poster on BBI.
Porzingis leads the league in blocks and is top 20 in Defensive FG differential. I wouldn't say he can't play defense.
Problem is, neither he nor Hornacek realize that he is a C.

Didn't the Macs win a championship built around dirk?

Hornacek is garbage, he runs iso for a guy who is best in the pick and pop or pick and roll...
He starts lance Thomas who does absolutely nothing so team's just leave him wide open to clog the paint...
How about down the stretch put the ball in hardaway hands and run pick and roll or pop with kp like the Macs dad with Terry and dirk...
Jack has been playing very well but he is to slow to turn the corner and he is not a good 3 point shooter...
End the game with floor spacers, the offense in the 4th quarter has been way to stagnant

Go look at Miami roster and tell me how they are that much better?
You think if spoelstra is the coach of this team they are losing to the bulls 3 times or blowing 19 point lead to the pelicans?
Fuck Hornacek.
Fuck Hornacek.
Gotta see Ron Baker yo.
10-7-10 with a minute left ... a Lonzo-like line! :-)

I was thinking the same thing. Haha.
I really like Michael Beasley. I hope they hang onto him. He's fun to watch.
