I certainly do... They have a similar feel to our teams that beat New England. Great sacking defense, great secondary, and a strong run game. To bad you have no idea which Blake Bortles will show up each week. He's the wild card!
It all comes down to the Jags defense. The secondary will have to play man. Sitting in zones will allow Tom to find his targets. The key will Calais and Malik. If they can collapse the pocket and put pressure up the middle, Tom will crumble. He hates getting hit and if the pressure starts early and often up the middle, Tom will begin looking at the rush and not his receivers. The playbook on how to beat Tom has been written. It just isn't easy to pull off.
They have a shot. They have good enough talent and speed on defense to get at Brady. They won’t be able to blitz much though as they’re going to need to blanket Gronk. They’ll need to force some turnovers from their corners in coverage.
The Jags will need a big run game from Fournette and Yeldon. If I was Marrone I would activate and dress Chris Ivory and include him in a 3 RB rotation to mix it up.
is that when you have a good defense and a strong running game, you can go very far.
Sadly, 2011 seemed to have convinced certain people with the Giants that they could ignore those aspects of the team as long as they had a good quarterback and some skill players in place.
threw for nearly 500 yards yesterday, but coming out and throwing the ball like that is why Jacksonville won. They gave up only 1 INT, but they also had the strip sack. Both lead to points.
I just think you need to run the ball on this defense and play a low scoring field position game with them. Take care of the ball, and make Bortles beat you.
beat Brady, Pressure up the middle and constantly. Jags can do that, too.
If Bortles plays like yesterday they have a good chance. Patriots cannot run like the Steelers. But those safeties better tighten up.
I'll bet BB looks at those tapes of Giants D - thinks about TC across the field and sets up to defend against what the Giants did in 42 and 46. I actually think the Jags pass rush might be better, but no worse than the Giants were. Big diff is Bortles ain't in the same universe as Eli.
I think Pats ultimately win a close one, but will not be surprised if the Jags win because of their defense.
but I have a hard time believing that Belichick won't put together a gameplan that forces Bortles to make plays in order to win the game.
The quick speed of the Pats' short passing game also gets a lot of first down and frustrates defenses. The Jags' defenders will have to stay patient and focused through the entire game in order to avoid mental mistakes.

The Jags have fast, skilled, LBs who can cover. It will be an interesting matchup with Hogan/Amendola/RBs vs Jags LBs. The Pats should make some plays but I think the Jags have the better end of it.
If they can scheme a way to take away Gronk. Take Gronk from Brady and he is mediocre. Just watch the Miami game when Gronk didn't play. Takeaway Gronk will hurt brady. Curious if Ramsey can cover Gronk 1 x 1.
the Steelers put 42 on them. Patriots d is better and offense is better.
It’s a matchup driven league. The Pats don’t have anyone close to the level of Bell and Brown. Jags D could hold the Pats o down.
All comes down to Bortles. BB will take away Fournette and make Bortles beat him (as he should).
Ok. Is this your first year watching the Patriots?
Patriots passing offense, rushing offense, and scoring offense were better than the Steelers in 2017.
but, sure they don't have the elite talent of Brown at WR and Bell at RB.
So what? Brady is light years better than Ben, no one can match up with Gronk and then defenses get so confused with who to cover out of Dion Lewis, James White, Amendola, Hogan etc. the Patriots just score.
but keep holding on to that "it's a matchup driven league" mantra as the Patriots win the Super Bowl.
Pressure up the middle is key and doing so by not blitzing. Brady can be thrown off his game when he can't step up in the pocket.
They just have so many wrinkles they throw in that offense. Those sweep tosses can be so effective especially when your concentrating on Gronk and the receivers. It's almost impossible to win the chess game with them.

Oh, is that all they have to do? Why, it's easy then!

Pats OL isn’t as good as Steelers OL. Brady doesn’t have any mobility. Jags should get more pressure with their front 4.
No one in NE’s backfield is as good as Bell. The Pats establishing the run is out of the question.
Cooks is a glorified Mike Wallace. The Jags can shadow him with Buoye and be fine.
It gets interesting with Gronk/Hogan/Amendola/RBs vs the rest of the Jags, but it’s not gonna be business as usual for the Pats. The Titans D was built to stop big plays so the Pats killed them with short stuff all game. The Jags have talent at every level to contest everything.
Like I said, it’s an interesting matchup. Jack and Smith can run and cover. The Jags should get pressure with their front 4.
Anyone who thinks the Pats offense is just going to come in and run over the Jags defense is a fool.
they have what should be a good defense and they can run the ball.
And for all the Pats dominance, remember this is a team that has lost home playoff games to the Jets and Ravens (twice) and probably should have lost a 3rd time to the Ravens.
That said, I don't see the Pats losing to them. This reminds me of 1996, when they went to Foxboro in the AFC Championship out of nowhere and lost to the Parcells Patriots.
That is the most physical Defense the Pats will see this year. We all know what happens when Brady is knocked around and this team has the ability to do that. Add in a good running game and there is definitely a possibility for an upset. The wildcard is Bortles, if he can do what he did last game with a bit more of him running that will open up that D
RE: JAX can beat the Pats for certain. Not sure what the hell Â
They are young, hot, fearless, and confident. And those are dangerous elements come playoff time.
Jags will have to apply consistent pressure, tackle well, limit red zone trips to FGs, and win the turnover battle. They certainly seem to have the talent to maybe pull those off...
Plus, the weather forecast is very mild with no precipitation and no wind. And poor conditions are usually a big plus for the Pats.
Still...it's very hard to go against Brady and that team in Foxboro...They just seem destined to have two times in the Brady era where they win 3 out of 4 SBs.
BUT — their D will have to play lights out and they were anything but vs Pitt.
the Steelers put 42 on them. Patriots d is better and offense is better.
Sacksonville can pressure the QB. Fournette can run the ball.
The Jags have a chance.

I think it’s the better game to watch.
I'm so sick of the Patriots.

They’ll keep it close but the Pats win.

Agree with this

The Ravens were far from favorites going into the 2000 playoffs, but they knocked out almost every QB they faced and had a suffocating defense.
Jax isn't on that level, but when you have a D like that, you'll at least stay in most games.
Notice most people say "Belichick will" take away Fournette, not "Patricia will"?
Therein lies the danger of hiring him. Nobody knows exactly what he or any other Belichick assistant does.

This. Not only will they cover, I'm about 60% that they will win outright. TB12 is in for a long day.
Strong running game (control the clock)
Best pass rush in the NFL (at worst 2nd best)
Safeties and corners who can cover (Ramsey, Bouye)
Having a Jags - Minn Superbowl will be a refreshing change for fans that like watching football...
I just think that Belicheck will find a way to expose Bortles.
And for all the Pats dominance, remember this is a team that has lost home playoff games to the Jets and Ravens (twice) and probably should have lost a 3rd time to the Ravens.
