In not for anything else, doing this with a degree of dignity to the coaches who may be in the playoffs as well as not distracting from those teams preparation any further then possible is the right thing to do.
The longer this goes on, the more likely it's a playoff coordinator and if it's not Patricia we know it;s one of the two offensive coordinators.
Both coordinators seem much better choices then McAdoo was as they have much more diverse experiences then he had.
Anyone different then McAdoo is going to be an upgrade just due to the chaos in that locker room this year, his lack of tailoring the system to Eli, and his mistakes using his capacity on offense instead of coach of the entire team until it was entirely to late.
Let's all go root for Coach Coughlin, because he's our coach and nothing in the season would make me happier at this point if he goes and gets another SB and see who winds up in his chair trying to live up to the excellent organization , 2 SB wins, and character of a team that had an awful roster towards the end of his time here that he took the fall for.
