It'd be funny if I weren't somewhat rattled myself. After all, I am checking in almost every hour, hoping for updates.
But thinking with a little clarity, I'm sure the organization has a sound strategy moving forward. There's no doomsday scenario playing out. Weren't we all hoping that they'd take their time with the HC and hire the right guy? Well, that's what's happening.
Or maybe they're just toying with us.
you can mosey into bad decisions, too
I think that’s where a lot of the hysteria is rooted. They’ve been a joke for going on 5 years, and it would appear that NYG aren’t exactly viewed as a prime destination by (what was) the top crop of available coaching candidates.

Firing Reese/Ross is a good start to bouncing back.
Seems normal to me - usual bluster and BS...
No announcement yet means it could still be Bill Bellichik.
I admit -- I like Gettleman and it does give me a sense that there is competence on board
And yes, I get a bit hyped up but I know the end game will be okay. It's kind of like when you're watching a game and curse this guy out or you kick that chair or whatever. It's fleeting emotions not really reflective of any long term state of mind.
I’m with you in the sense that I don’t believe they’ve missed out on any can’t-miss coaches. I don’t think the crop was all that exciting.
What does give me some concern is the idea (if the reports are to be believed) that coaches like Patricia and McDaniels are passing them over for seemingly mediocre gigs like Detroit and Tennessee.
New York City, organizational history, 2nd pick in the draft, and OBJ should be a pretty attractive bill of goods. Especially, you’d think, with Belichick only having positive things to say about NYG in terms of any private/personal advice he’s shared with the two.
And they’re getting skipped over for the “opportunity” to live in the greater Detroit area, and for Marcus Mariota coming off the brutal season he just had?
I find it a little concerning. There’s something at least a little bit unattractive about the job as it’s currently being offered right now. As always, it would be great to be a fly on the wall for those interviews.
I'm enjoying seeing this unfold and am glad nothing is being rushed.

I’ve been extremely critical of this organization over the last five years but I am more confident going forward with the selection of Gettleman. I think picking the right GM was the most critical decision this off season and I think they got it right. I’m more confident that talent acquisition will improve. I understand the handwringing about the coach but I think a lot of people are just gravitating to the big names. I’m not sold on Mc Daniels and Patricia may also prove he is a better DC than head coach. We will be ok
Don t.
It will play out and Giants will hire a competent head coach, maybe a great one.
There is no doomsday scenerio

These things actually don't concern me -- they speak about the individual making the decision. If Patricia feels safer in Detroit then NY he's probably not a good coach for us. I've never warmed up to McDaniels so if he's taking his act to Tennessee -- so be it. There is nothing about him that excites me and his ego is the size of Texas.
I know this is not the popular view - but I'm feeling back to being positive -- which I wasn't from game 4 on this season. I let a lot go when the Giants fired Mac, Reese and Ross. And I'm a big Gettleman fan. I think he's just a plain ol' real football guy!
Yes Mara and Tisch will ultimately pick the HC. No, Gettleman will have a very big say in who. I'm fairly certain after the last few years, Mara and Tisch will try to get it right and Gettleman will push somebody or two to the forefront, with a strong recommendation on one.
It will be for me. I love that guy.
Both of them have strong ties to the GM or FO at Detroit and Tenn.
It isn't like they are going to complete unknowns.
Thanks, Reese!
It’s past time you came up with some new material
The 2017 Giants were not a 3-13 team, they just played like it, we are not the browns, and any coach worth his salt knows that if you come to NY and perform to reasonable standards you get a long rope with a stable franchise (recent fubars aside).
Mcadoo was a case where we went shopping while hungry, after offloading a coach that had somewhat gotten stale, and was like the handley decision, likely also based off some Jerry Reese self preservationist input. Sobeit, its done, we know the outcome.
The difference is we aren't the 1993 Giants. We are not a 3-13 team, just had a bad season, we have a great pick(s), a solid but not super great roster, but enough for a coach with ambition and a vision to build upon. Arguably a once in a generation talent at WR, and an ownership that hates turnover and chaos (for the most part)
So if one of our picks feels better at TN or Indy, oh well. I want a measured approach to getting our next coach, not a knee jerk shopping while hungry approach, and if its No McD, or Patricia, Or Shrumur, I wont lose sleep Ill wait and see who the guy they bring in is and what he does before getting overly upset any more.
I used to get so mad over TC at times, I stopped enjoying watching the Giants. This year was a fun year for me as for once I wasn't watching games all knotted up, I didn't like losing but i loved not hating Sunday when we lost.
Im taking that approach this season, and during this coaching search. (there are some on here who have known me for a very long time that will wonder where Jason went and what did the aliens do with him)
On a thread that has nothing to do with Eli!
Awesome!

People like to create their own narratives even when there's nothing to back them up.

yep...this douche of a troll makes EliteMobster look like an absolute genius.
I wasn't inferring it's solely his decision, we know it's a group-think decision.
