Wish he and Snacks were more dangerous pass rushers, though.
I’m hoping we have at least 3 or 4 years of those two playing together. The other DT spot has been a revolving door since the days of Cofield. Which actually shows how good we’ve been at identifying good DTs in the draft.
RE: Tomlinson is really on his way, could be a great player. Â
NBC during the eagles game made it a point to show how much they cut down on the snaps of their DL during the season to keep them fresh. (Graham i believe went from 90% of the snaps last year to only 62%)...depth and production at DE on this team could cure a lot of ills.
But I'd be wary comparing him to Hankins based solely off stats. For all football players, but even more so for DT IMO, there is so much more that goes beyond the stat sheet.
For someone like Hankins, I like to go to other team boards to get a sense for how thy did. I found the below write-up from a footballsfuture post on the Colts page of that site ... this is from December 2017 recapping the defensive side of the ball for Indy...

The other new bigman Ballard was able to find during the off-season was Jonathan Hankins, he was our 1 kinda "big slash" in FA last year and he's been a beast. He signed a 3 year 27 million dollar contract and he's been worth every penny. Hankins is another guy who plays better than his stat line, especially working as a DE in our 3-4. But despite the little number, he's been putting in work stuffing the run, getting in pass lanes and pushing the pocket. He'll definitely be a big piece to our D and has even shown off he can excel in a 4-3, putting up 7 sacks with the Giants in in 2014.
The Giants history of hitting on stud DTs is pretty remarkable.
Tomlinson off to a great start...Hankins and Linval Joseph are still strong players in the league...Barry Cofield turned in a nice career...Cornelius Griffin, Keith Hamilton
And then there was Marvin Austin...ug

I'm not sure they should have to do it all -- OV and JPP need to be better contributors -- and a couple of LBs would help
Would help a lot to kick JPP inside and have a edge rusher for passing downs
Good to see Tomlinson showed something, I didn't notice him much.
Now lets get some coaches/teachers in here that can get the most out of them.

In a 4-3, You need your DTs to stop the run and collapse the pocket. Our DEs are just not providing the penetration they are being paid for.
+1

I always liked Hankins, and it seems like he had a good start with the Colts
