She looked and sounded great in this April 2017 interview. Talking about reuniting the band, more albums, etc. Mentioned spine/disc problems from carrying a guitar that was so much bigger than her...she had to quit playing. April 2017 interview - ( New Window )
Yes, it was supposed to be funny. I guess I probably should have let news of her death linger a little before suggesting it had anything to do with Zombies, zombies, zombies.
Not sure what's in my head.
sincerest apologies to all NY Giants fans who viewed my post about Cranberries lead singer Dolores O'Riordan's death and were offended. in my dreams it's never quite as it seems with my humor.

It was funny. Some folks take mourning for somebody they don't know to another level...

Rest in Peace...So sad to hear this, I liked their music and so did my daughter. I know she will be upset.
In this interview at about 3:50 in she mentions she would like to tour again "health permitting" maybe she knew something then.
Why is it so difficult to comprehend when someone whose talent or contributions you appreciate dies, it's dopey for the immediate reaction to be a not very clever joke?
I doubt anyone on a football website expects an extreme amount of reverence on topics.
But maybe just a tiny space to learn about and reflect on something you care about with like-minded folks?
I loved the Cranberries when I was younger - they had a lot of great songs outside of the singles that everyone knew.
I don't want to make assumptions, but yeah - when an performer/artist dies this young, you often find out that substance abuse was to blame. I hope not - but it's tragic and terrible no matter what.

You're pretty judgmental for a Christian.
Maybe you could ponder why it's so difficult to fathom that someone could possibly be a fan of the deceased's work, and still try and add levity to a situation about the untimely death of someone none of us personally knows.
Maybe you should patrol the Cranberries fan forum to make sure no one made any weak humor attempts when Frank Gifford died.
getting arrested a few years ago and went into a mental health treatment facility. Not sure what the issue was or if that played a role in her death, but dying unexpectedly at that young of an age?

Have to think it was a factor.
She's had a history of depression, Bipolar Disorder, and suicidal tendencies. Big fan of hers, she died too young
but that's not really the point. The point is showing some class, respect and acting like adults. Just because I didn't know her doesn't mean I shouldn't show appropriate respect to someone that just died.
The problem with people today is that they want to inject "levity" into everything. It's all a big fucking joke. Everything is about entertaining yourself and acting like manchildren, and when you get called out you turn it on everyone else.
If you can't act like adults in one little thread, go drink your Mountain Dew, watch a Superhero movie, talk about how great XBox is, and leave the adults alone.
...beneath the grunge of the 90's, there were some sweet female acts adding a completely different color to sound of the era, Cranberries, The Sunday's, October Project - I remember the first time coming across 'Linger', scanning radio on a late-night, Pocono snowstorm drive. That song jumped out at me as so unique, so sweet. Beautifully orchestrated and arranged, Dolores O'Riordan's voice was something new and different. Snagged the album "Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We" immediately.
I remember 1990 as a transitional year in music - after the horror of the late 80's, it was wonderful to hear something fresh and new - Cranberries were all that.

Posts like this one shed a lot of light on where we are as a country today. It's sad actually. Everyone has to be get butt hurt about something.
If people aren't offended at any given moment, just wait a minute they will be.
I apologize for nothing.
My comment wasn't even really disrespectful, her death is unexplained.
this thread isn't quite as bad as the "congratulations Mr Coughlin" threads, but close to it.
Have some f-ing self awareness and slightly, just slightly thicker skin.
"have respect for the dead" is pretty much a hypocritical pile of bullshit anyway.
The idea that we need to be morose because somebody we don't personally know has passed to not offend other's sensabilities is ridiculous.
Hell, a guy posted a picture of zombies (which happens to be one of the Cranberries most popular songs) and that is being ridiculed? The bar is set awfully low on what triggers outrage.
Telling other people how to react to death or any other event is about as bad as it gets from a high horse standpoint.
But it's well known many artists abused substances to tap into their creative artistry. She may have resorted back to it while recording. Again purely speculative, and hope I'm wrong. She was talented asf.
PJ, you're a fucking monster. Must be nice to live in your world! Zombie free....walk outside and smell the roses and not have any cares? Must. Be. Fucking. Nice.
I refuse to dip in to that thread and shower Coughlin with praise and admiration. I will only do that in the threads where Greg is at his crankiest and most magnificent self. Why waste my time in a thread that is all hugs and kisses.
How many lead singers from the 90s are left?
???? Is that supposed to be funny?
RIP.

Isn't their most famous song something about Zombies?

Hard to believe.

Keep up your crusading.
I'll leave you to mourn in peace now.

She was in London to record, but didn't die in a studio, she died in her hotel.

She did deal with bi-polar.

I stand corrected. At least she was still doing what she loved.
Just saying. The idea of fatty squirreling away nuggets of factiods about former cranberrys in mental health facilities ......no...just...no...

Do you even realize what a colossal schmuck you come across as on BBI?
Methinks not.
Yeah, I had no idea they were still even together, but they released an album last year. Obviously not as popular as early on, but still doing it.
Far too young. RIP Dolores.

But Zombie and Linger were staples on rock radio in the early/mid 90s
