Why can't the giants ever clean house
Sonic Youth : 1/16/2018 1:13 pm : link
What is this infatuation with keeping it in the family, or overlapping tenures of coaches?

Spags initially wouth Couglhlin. McAdoo now with Couglhin and Spags. Couglhin gone, keep reese, keep McAdoo and Spags. Brring Gettleman back. Now McAdoo gone, but Spags stays?

WTF? At some point, you need a fresh start.

After Slade's post, I feel more confident than ever that Spags won't stay.
Spags did the team

a massive help in cleaning up the mess, I can see them wanting him to stay on but Shurmur needs to capitalize on his 2nd chance or he may not get another.
I heard one of the players (forget which one) say on WFAN

that Spags' system is hard for young players to pick up. If so, that argues against him if the team is doing a full rebuild.
I like it.

They've worked together before and I think Spags is just as good as any DC available right now. I believe in his ability to out-scheme opposing offenses.

Spags got hit with key injuries last year. Both his MLB's went down immediately (Keenan Robinson and B.J. Goodson). KR was a huge loss. JPP got hurt in preseason. JackRabbit f#cked up his ankle week 1. LC playing though a HAS. Then Vernon got hurt. Casillas got hurt. Snacks had a knee.

And on top of it all, Apple went haywire.

Plus everything, EVERYTHING has to be taken in the context of playing for an incompetent boob in Ben McAdoo. Probably the worst coach we've seen in the NFL in a long time.

It was just "one of those years" for Spags. I think with some increased depth and another pass rusher in the mix he can put a great D together. They were humbled last year but there are 6 All Pros on that D.

Slade's working the phones as we speak, getting the inside scoop from his sources!

I hope we are not rebuilding our defense. with an offense that keeps the other opponents on their toes, then the defensive job is easier.
I’m a fan of Spags but do the players really respect him if 3 players

were suspended or benched?

Maybe the new GM and New HC would have given him more support than McAdoo and Reese but I think It’s time to move on, unless the new HC just HAS TO HAVE him.

The Giants should not lose site of the fact that as bad as the offense was last year, the defense was terrible and had far fewer excuses. Most of the personality problems were also on the defensive side of the ball.

I like Spags... He seems like a good guy. But his defense in NY has been atrocious as much as it has been good.

Love The Spags and he probably would have ben the better choice two years ago(hindsight is 20/20), but even his good defenses were 'bend but don't break'. You never got the feeling that when we took a lead it was 'locked down'. THAT'S the kind of defense I want (who doesn't). Can we get the guy that can give us that?
HELL NO. Eric's 10:51 post is spot on

Giants should have fired him already

make it easy for the new coach.
I don't trust him either

but I could absolutely see Slade's scenario playing out. Minny wins, New England loses - that gives us a two-week window to explore the situation in New England. Supposedly Kraft, Belichick and Brady will have a sit-down at the end of the season - who knows what may come of that, especially if we make it clear there's a landing spot here for Belichick? It's a one-in-a-million shot, but we'd have absolutely nothing to lose.
