Has an immensely talented offensive roster and has had some absolutely fantastic coordinators. Don’t know if he’s 100% the straw that stirs the drink there.
They have a great front office and structure within that franchise. I can’t really tell how much of their success is the culture Tomlin has built or the culture that has been around that franchise for decades, not to mention a HOF caliber QB.
but other than the Patriots he’s had probably three best roster in he NFL since taking that team over. I also don’t like how many games he gives away due to poor management.
I still think he’s a good coach but he’s not some slam dunk to do well on a team that’s been less fortunate than Pittsburgh.
Fire a guy who has made the playoffs four years in a row, won two AFC championships and a Super Bowl, and hasn't had a losing season in 11 years as a head coach because he made a bad decision on an onside kick.
Why wouldn't Tomlin get some credit for having the best roster outside the Pats? Presumably he has some input into shopping for the groceries, especially since he's been a successful coach for 10 years now, and he's also in charge of developing the drafted talent, or at worst putting together a staff that helps with the individual talent development.

I don't think there's a coach in the NFL that hasn't blown games due to poor management. Belichick has blown games due to poor management. When you're in that situation enough times, you're going to screw up here and there.
Fire a guy who just completed a 13-3 season? Who never had a below .500 season in 11 years.. No, I'd be shocked if the most stable organization in the NFL fired a coach as successful as Tomlin. Thats one of the best coached teams in all of football.
To that group of minority owners who want his head, the question should be asked, who do you plan to replace him with? Its slim pickings right now.
I'd be on the phone with Tomlin 5 seconds after he's let go Â

That's was probably fifth on the list for that game alone. Running wide and throwing on two fourth and shorts were at least two that were worse. And it's nothing new. He takes ridiculous gambles, like when he went on a two point bender early in games. His record is hard to argue with, but he's not a good in game coach. And considering he has the best receiver and best runner in football, and a hall of fame QB, he should have done more.
He's a consistently good coach and players like playing for him. But his deficiencies in game planning and management have been evident for a while now. His players have also struggled with discipline. How about Mike Mitchell predicting a playoff win over the Patriots before they even played the Jaguars game? If that happened with the Giants, we'd be up in arms about it.
His players and teams always seem to do some stupid shit.
You can say that about any coach. I seem to remember Gronk jumping on a players back and giving him a concussion. That’s not an indictment of Belichick
BWHAHAHAHAHA...my sister and her family came down for Christmas and somehow we ended up talking about that. We used to laugh our asses off when we were kids watching that shit.
Does the message get stale? Everyone get too comfortable with one another? Maybe the HC just gets burned out after all those games, playoff push, etc?
With the exception of the rare, Hall of Fame level coaches (BB, Walsh, Landry, etc.) there does seem to be some truth to the pattern that after 10 years the results start to fade.
All that said, no way Pittsburgh fires Tomlin this year. I would wonder, however, if they don't go a little further next year what might happen. That would make 12 years with one Super Bowl win.
More likely on the outs in Pitt than Tomlin.
Besides his personal issues, it took him a while to figure out AB could own Bouiye; if he figures it out a little earlier, Pitt might have had 14+ at halftime and won by 7 or 14.
Though I'm fine they lost.
He lost a playoff game to Tim Tebow. He went on national TV and basically taunted the Pats and then proceeded to admit they were focused only on the AFCC. The whole team including coaches has gotten very lazy and arrogant.
His game management has actually gotten incredibly bad (never his forte). He needs strong coordinators. He’s also gotten lax on discipline.
He’s literally single handedly lost them games through some of his management and decisions the last few years.
He did well to start off, but I think a change is in the offing and would be best for both sides because it might get ugly.
Coach a team with a good QB situation = good coach
By this logic, Doug Marrone is a bad coach.
I don't think anyone would agree.
To a lesser degree, Sean McDermott.
Of course I meant relative to wins/losses. By that logic Doug Marrone is performing very well relative to his QB situation. But generally the #1 correlation between a new HC hire succeeding or failing is if he has or finds a good QB.
had a great run with Pitt. Competitive every year, won a SB. But his style/coaching methods might be drying up there. With Big Ben out the door soon, I imagine they'll have a new coach by 2019.
and how badly he performs in the playoffs? People blame TC for game management.. But when TC had the talent he had no Game management problems.. This guy has repeatedly done this, in spite of having one of the most talented teams since day 1 of his coaching career.. He has a more talented team right now than New England.. The throws Ben was making on sunday were incredible.. He lost to Tim Tebow in the playoffs.. he only has 1 SB ring and even that was with Stud defense players who were developed and brought in before he was a coach..
jump in bed with Pitt's head coach? Don't you have any idea how close the two families are? First, the Rooney's would call John Mara at home and will tell him EVERYTHING there is to know about Tomlin. Next, out of respect John Mara is not going to hire a guy who was just fired by their relatives.

Agreed.

He sucks as an in-game manager.
Always has.
He doesn't have that rap for nothing'.

He's absolutely to blame for the way he managed the game.

Chargers? Lions?

Clearly we're not paying attention to this loser franchise.
No thanks..
Now that’s a record.
