Thanks Reese, left DG in decent shape roster/cap-wise, best draft picks we have had since we picked the best defensive player ever to play the game. Exciting times.
Engram was more productive than the other rookie TEs and compared favorably to most rookie WR. Setting aside his blocking (which, I thought, was a little better than advertised), receiving stats are a big deal in this era.
Tomlinson played at a veteran level from Day 1. A nice pick.
The Giants 2017 draft and UDFA haul was pretty solid... some good pieces as we rebuild this team.

I loved him and wanted us to take him, and have to believe KC traded up because they knew that the Giants were going to draft him. We got Webb, of course, and it's to be determined whether he ever contributes to the team.
It does frustrate me that Reese never seemed to move up and down in the draft for guys he liked..."there are good players in every round" just doesn't cut it.
Is Ryan Ramcyck. Engram was a good pick. But the incessant stupidity that he and Cam Robinson weren’t worth the 25th pick is exactly that.
Is Engram worth more than a starting LT? Wound the have been nearly the issue if Reese didn’t let the OL deteriorate
I liked both Engram and Tomlinson a lot. Very good likcs in a vacuum . Shame he couldn’t find more than one or two OL in 11 years. Need to build a whole roster. Something he was a failure at the last 5-6 years.

Engram isn't Howard Cross, but he puts in the effort which is more than you can say for a lot of young players.

100% correct. Engram is a nice player but when is the last tie a team won a title because it had an undersized pass catching TE and no OL to speak of? It was a dumb pick.
Where the offensive linemen that were real question marks at the time were clearly the picks they should have made.
There's no argument to be made that they didn't need a tight end, and there's no argument to be made that he isn't clearly a good player with a chance to be special. They might have the position solved for 5 years after fooling themselves into thinking that can make a TE out of junk. So it wasn't a dumb pick. They needed both positions.
I think Reese didn't pick Ramcyzk or Robinson because he thought Flowers was going to improve. Which he did to an extent, but obviously not at the speed anyone could have hoped for.

And he was dead wrong. This OL absolutely killed us all year but yay we have a slot WR we call a TE. I love Engram, don't get me wrong but it's akin to worrying about having a built in GPS before you know if the car even runs.
I think Engram is solid as hell but he did not need to go that early.
While I don't think he would have lasted until our 2nd pick he probably lasts into the first handful of picks of round 2. If Reese and Co. were so enamored with his fit on the Giants then they needed to have better sized up the market and made a deal to move up in Rd 2 and gotten both an OL and Engram.
But they fkd up on assessing OL talent AND they reached a bit for Engram...
I never really hear Micky Loomis mentioned as a great GM, but he's nailed it the past couple seasons.

LOL.
2nd worst.
I believe those guys graded him as a TE more than a WR...which slightly skewed it.
Tomlinson played better and better as the year went on which is all you can
Ask for a rookie.

At least Reese left with a positive early round draft.

TE has been a revolving door because Reese's track record with TEs has been terrible, so for me it's hard to give him props.
