lost to twice in the Super Bowl?
This Jaguars team to me resembles those two Giants teams. Great defense with a mean pass rush. A stable offense with some weapons. I am not going to compare Bortles to Manning but he has shown signs he can handle it.
Of course, with Coughlin having a lot of influence this past year, it seems that the Jaguars built a team similar to those two Giants teams. I think they were on their way there before Coughlin and he just touched it up this past year.
It will be interesting to see if Brady gets as rattled this week as he was in those two Super Bowls. If the Jags get to him early, they have a chance.
The one thing you don't have is a legit starting quarterback IMO that will make the big play.
All three are NFL backup QBs to me......and that's advantage Pats.
QB is the most important player on the team.
And as good as the Jags D is, they're not '86 Giants, '85 Bears, '00 Ravens or '15 Broncos good.
they gave up 42 points last week.
BTW, Jacksonville's not very good against the run.

And I know PIT was fighting from behind most of the game and has some skill guys but Ben threw for 5 TD's and almost 500 yards passing last week against the #1 pass D in the NFL.
Remember when after the SF game some of the JAX players feared SF provided the blueprint to beat them. I'm not sure that there isn't some truth to that.

That's okay, I guess.

BB will be looking at that San Fran tape and comparing what PITT did last week for sure.
It doesn't even seem to me the Pats are playing that terrific...and they are still getting to 30 points.
Just taking them a bit longer I suppose............

They're a great second half team. BB knows how to coach a team to finish games.
Tom Brady: 9
Blake Bortles: 0
Number of 40+ point games at Heinz Field:
Blake Bortles: 2
Tom Brady: 0
Fortunately for the Jags, the weather won’t be a factor. Unfortunately for the Jags, they are going to need virtually everything to go right on the road in the playoffs two weeks in a row...
If the magic carpet ride continues then the football gods are all in on the Jags this year. If not, the Pats may win by 40.
neither could JAX all season. means nothing. Belichick, I mean PAtricia, will cook something up ;-)
Let JAX win a Bowl first, then we can compare SB teams.
JPP, Osi and Tuck
if they can generate that kind of pressure, control the ball and clock with Fournette and dont turn over the ball, they have a chance though
Really? The 2011 Giants scored quite a bit on the Packers, didn't they?
Also the 2007 team hung 35 on the Pats in the season finale, though that was a home game.
Basically, the Jags rely on Fournette and Bortles scrambling to keep the chains moving. Where are the iconic Eli-like playoff throws? Keenum at least has that on the resume. Bortles is a guy who had more rushing yards than passing two weeks ago.
The two teams have very little in common. The Jags resemble a poor man's Raven team from 2000, but that Ravens D was much better, but they relied on Jamal Lewis to sustain the O and Dilfer to not have turnovers.
That and Bortles, I'd be surprised if BB and Patricia don't cook up a gameplan to exploit him.

They're legit rushing the passer. They're average at best against the run, and that's probably being overly kind.
The defense gave up 400 points....and they were 7th in scoring in the NFC......
But Eli was otherworldly that year......he was the one that drove the bus in 2011....
