NGT: Jets Lowering Season Ticket Prices

Mkdaman1818 : 1/16/2018 6:22 pm
The New York Jets are lowering season-ticket prices, with the lowest prices being lower than those when the Jets first moved into MetLife Stadium in 2010.

On Tuesday, season-ticket holders were given the 2018 prices, which were down by a weighted average of 11 percent as compared to last season.

The cheapest tickets in the upper deck will be $45 a game, while tickets in the mezzanine will cost $95 per game.

The bigger news for Jets fans is that those mezzanine tickets, previously available only with a $2,500 to $4,000 personal seat license, are now available without paying for the PSL.

"Every year, when we are doing our pricing, we look across the league, at industry trends, at New York entertainment and the secondary market," Jets president Neil Glat told ESPN. "We made the adjustment because we want to continue to add value."

The Jets have had two straight 5-11 seasons, finishing their seventh consecutive season without a trip to the postseason, their longest playoff drought since an 11-season drought from 1970 to 1980.

Hoping to further entice Jets fans to renew or buy tickets, the team is offering more Jets cash, which can be used to buy items in the stadium, and offering to freeze prices for the 2019 season if fans agree to be charged monthly by autopay.

Despite the appearance of empty seats for the 2017 season, the Jets reported home attendance of 77,562 people per game in the 82,500-seat stadium. Only the Dallas Cowboys (92,721) and the Green Bay Packers (78,092) reported more per-game ticket sales.

Upper Deck

I pay $100/game for the upper deck (Giants) and had to buy a PSL. I doubt the Giants will follow suite as the only areas that aren’t sold out are the club sections.

Giants had a price increase last year.

I agree, but would be a nice gesture for them to cut prices a bit for the awful season we just had to endure

More fool me, I paid more for three wins than Jet fans did for five.

Maras should be embarrassed. They wont be but they should be.

The sad part is if I were a Jets fan my ticket would be cut in half with no PSL.

$45 is a good deal. Jets fans should jump on that. Even $95 for the Mezzanine.

I agree, that $45 per ticket is insane... $50 for the front rows of those sections.
Good for them

Great gesture to the fans.
It frustrates me how the Mara's

get such a pass from us fans. They charge some of the highest prices in the league, require absurd PSL's for season ticket holders, and charge us for parking passes for all the games (those that remember, parking passes were only implemented for construction of the new stadium).

They are certainly not the only owners doing this, but with the way some talk about the current Mara family, you'd think they were Mother Teresa.

True. This is chance to make it right. The only issue is the non club seats are sold out. So they get get rid of PSLs. The Jets aren't sold out so they have room to move people. Plus the upper deck for the Jets never had PSLs to begin with like the Giants.
They are two separate organizations

and their other operations should be run how they see fit. But, I always thought the ticket/PSL pricing in this stadium should have been the same across the board. From day one they always had a more fan friendly package in Met Life.
