To clarify I am not saying that Thielen is a nobody without Shurmur. My point is that Shurmur helped to turn Thielen into a very good player.

I agree with that. He was a from a nowhere school and didn't even get a combine invite but his athletic ability would have placed him well. He needed to be developed, but I don't think he's a product of a system. Kind of a victor cruz story.
