1. Browns RB Saquon Barkley
2. Giants QB Josh Rosen
3. Jets QB Sam Darnold
4. Browns QB Baker Mayfield
5. Broncos QB Josh Allen
6. Colts OG Quentin Nelson (or OT Conner Williams)
7. Bucs DE Bradley Chubb
8. Bears CB Minkah Fitzpatrick
9. Niners DS Derwin James
10. Raiders LB Roquan Smith
--The Browns choose to avoid the headache of a Rosen hold-out and have similar grades on Darnold and Mayfield, so they select the highest rated non-QB on their board knowing they can grab a QB with the fourth pick.
--The Giants then happily take the highest rated player on their board by a country mile.
--The Jets favor Darnold over Mayfield and Allen partly because they worry about the latter two dealing with the NY media and lifestyle and so they jump the Browns and Broncos to get their QB of the future.
--The Browns gladly take Mayfield.
--The Broncos gladly take Allen.
--The Colts then take the top rated OL on their board (either Nelson or Williams).
--Leaving the Bucs, Bears, Niners, and Raiders to seize the top rated defensive players in the draft.

Roll the dice with Eli and Webb for a year. Sell the farm to trade up in 2019 if we suck.
I know it's still early in the evaluation process and all we have to go on are the views of draft experts and rumors of what players teams supposedly prefer. But most of the things that I've read or the interviews that I've watched have Darold as the top-rated QB.
I've also not seen or read anything that suggests that Darnold = Mayfield. It's doubtful that the Browns have similar grades on both or that the Jets (if they traded up) would have a tough choice between the two.
It's also odd that you lumped Mayfield and Allen together when it comes to "dealing with the NY media and lifestyle". We all know about Mayfield, but I've not read any such concerns about Allen.
I do think that the Giants end up with Rosen, but not because he's "the highest rated player on their board by a country mile" but because the Browns will pick Darnold. And if the Browns pass and choose Barley instead, don't be surprised if the Giants pick Darnold over Rosen.
This team has so many holes on the O line that it is going to take a miracle to put together an average line for the next 3 years without a lot of creativity and money in FA. We are going to use the Reese way of thinking that moving someone or giving them another year is going to change things. It hasn't worked with this line at all. Flowers?? Pugh injured 50% of the time. Richburg getting knocked around...who do you hang your hat on --which 5? The best lineman in 2017 might have been the back-up center from the Canadian football league. The 2 rookies that were on the practice squad that started the last game...counting on them? This is insane...we are a mess right now. Josh Rosen is not going to solve anything...head issues and if he thinks the PAC 12 hits hard...welcome to the NFL with this line. If the guy from ND is available we take him and start to build with draft and FA NOW.
The Saints added 2 pieces to their OL in Warford and Ramcykh, one in FA and one through the draft. Job 1 for Gettlemen will be rebuilding the O Line. He basically said it in his press conference. You can start by looking at 3 FA the Giants have: Richburg, Pugh and Fluker. I think one of these guys are coming back. Flowers will be somewhere on the line, and Jones is a RFA si he should be back. John Jerry started to play much better when he was moved to LG. Wheeler is a potential candidate for RT and maybe LT.
The draft might bring a starter for the OL but IMO it would have to be our first or 2nd round picks. So unless the trade back and draft Nelson or Williams, or take Price in round 2, most of the new NYG O line will be from FA ( Norwell, Solder ? ) or re-signed players.
Rosen is good if Giants want to go Qb. If not we should draft Barkley.
There's a lot of hesitancy when it comes to Darnold and I think it comes down to a matter of personal taste with him, Mayfield, and Allen, because all three are unfinished products that require significant development. Rosen is the safest choice. There is nothing to project with him because he already plays the game like a seasoned NFL veteran. The only issues are the injuries and concussions. But it's not like Darnold, Mayfield, and Allen are immune to injuries and concussions, especially given their style of play. So I don't see the injury risk as enough to close the gap between Rosen and the other three.
As for Cleveland, if one of the QBs other than Rosen stands out in their mind (i.e., Darnold), I agree that he will be their first selection. But it's also possible that Barkley is their highest rated player other than Rosen and I could picture them viewing Mayfield and Darnold as equally adept at running their version of a WCO (I could be wrong about their offense). Also, I think there's a decent chance that they trade one of their three 2nd round picks for Alex Smith, so it puts less pressure on them to spend the #1 overall on a QB.
What if:
The Browns pick up Cousins? Then they have no need to Draft a QB
What if Shurmur convinces the Giants to bring Keenum with him? Or at least gets them to bring in Bridgewater? Or as a QB whisperer, he figures he can turn Webb into something special? Then we have no need to draft a QB.
Until our HC is officially announced, I'm hesitant to say with any authority we are taking a QB. Even after that, I'm only about 30-40% thinking we are.. I'm more in the trade back grab some picks address the O-line, RB (If Barkely is available) etc. Roll the dice for a year, see what we have in Webb (Sorry Eli, if your staying you'll be sitting by week 5) Chances are we suck again that we have a mid round first, Trade up if needed, We'll have ours + whoever we trade back with, and get our QB if needed.

I think Flowers is either traded or released. I think the only reason he hasn't been cut already is because his 2018 salary is guaranteed and he has trade value. If they can get a 7th round pick for him (Miami? Jacksonville?) the new team will be on the hook for his 2018 salary and the Giants get an extra pick in the deal. If the Giants are unable to find a trading partner for Flowers, I think he gets cut before camp.
Why would they cut him? Who will play tackle? Bisnowaty? While Flowers is not a great LT, he actually had a decent year last year and has been very durable, which we can say for the rest of our team. We all would love an upgrade but until that piece is found and the other positions are fortified, Flowers is part of this OL IMO.

This is quite plausible.
When your QB is 37 and there are potential franchise QBs staring you in the face, you don't take a freaking OLman with the 2nd pick!
Maybe the 2nd round, maybe even multiple rounds, but there's no freaking way the 1st round. I'm fairly confident DG will also bring in some FA OL help.

I believe McCaffrey was seen as a multi-skilled weapon and more importantly, the Panthers had a 27 year old QB entering his prime, not a 37 year old QB leaving his prime.

I find it amusing how you simply gloss over the "injuries and concussions" like they don't exist by saying the other guys aren't immune to them either. Yeah, no kidding, so is everyone who steps on a football field.
Problem is Rosen has ALREADY had those injuries. Two concussions (that we know of) a knee and surgery to his throwing shoulder. How is that not a concern? How about the fact he either wasn't able to start or finish 12 of his last 20 games at UCLA?
Look, I get being enameled with his talent but what good is it if he's not on the field? Guy has Sam Bradford written all over him to me, and I'd pass. Sure hope the Gianlts do too.
How many concussions are too many these days? And surgery on throwing shoulder? I would also pass.
If we f this up its another 5 years + of ineptitude
Exactly. It pretty much guarantees Eli another shot as the starter. Darnold with at least a year under Eli and Shurmur would make it worth it having to endure this past season.
