He currently has less games played than anyone in the top 24.
Pretty amazing since he's played in less than 3 full seasons worth of games.
Hopefully he has a longer career than the three guys in front of him.
He definitely deserves to get paid and he should either by us or another team.
Injury is unfortunate but he needs to honor his rookie contract.

Would you say the same thing to the Giants if they signed/drafted someone who wasn't playing well - that they should honor the contract and pay him every cent regardless of his play? If no, then you really can't criticize players for wanting to be paid when they outperform their contract.
As a result, yards per catch are way down. Rote averaged 16 yards a catch over his career, Gifford 15 a catch over his long career and Homer Jones an astounding 22 yards a catch over his career. Beckham is at 14- a very good number by today's standards.
This is not to say that Beckham isn't a great player, he is, but be careful with this all-time stuff. Given the rules changes, you need to compare players against players in their own era.

exactly. good post
This.
~4500 yds in the ~3 seasons Beckham's played is great. The fact that the Giants #2 all time in receiving yards only has ~5500 yds is an indictment of the WRs that have played for them, particularly in the "modern" era. Pick a random team and the bar for #2 is likely higher (even the expansion Jags have 2 players >6000 yds).
When the alternative is having your career ended before turning 30 or making anywhere what his value actually is like so many recent Giants receivers have, it's not a difficult choice to make.

good post Homer.

What makes him an a**hole exactly? And I don't think there is any rule that says he has to honor his rookie contract if he doesn't want to? There are consequences and risks to not doing so but this is still a business dude.
I was just about to post something similar. Not to take anything away from OBJ but man we have not had very productive WRs. Let's face it, our offenses in general have (for the most part) not been great. Sure, we have a good year here or there. Look at our RBs too over the years.

Leave it to Homer to poop on everyone's party.

Of the shitty WR and bad injury luck NYG has had over the years.

For better reference, Larry Fitzgerald is currently 3rd in NFL history with 15,545 yds over 14 seasons. That's an average of 1110 yds per year.
Beckham is currently at 4,424 yds, averaging 1106 yds per year (including this past season that was cut short due to injury). If he stays healthy the sky is the limit for him.
